FC: Steve & Melynda

1: Hi, we're Steve and Melynda and we'd like to thank you for taking a moment to read our profile and get to know us a little better. We can not imagine what you are going through right now and our hearts go out to you. We hope in the following pages you get an idea of who we are, our love for each other, and the parents we intend to be. We both feel that adoption is a wonderful way to start a family. Over the last 6 years we have had the opportunity to mentor 3 siblings that live in our neighborhood. This has shown us how easily a bond can be formed.

3: About Us We met in 2003 and after spending time getting to know each other it was not long before we were completely in love. We got married in November 2006 in Cancun, Mexico (not legally though!). We had a legal ceremony in September 2006 at the top of a ski resort near our home. This ski resort was a symbolic place for us to have our legal ceremony since Steve had surprised Melynda and proposed there a couple of years prior. Steve likes to joke with Melynda saying that she never actually said yes since she was crying from surprise and excitement. We love to laugh and simply have fun in everything that we do. We love nothing more than spending time together. Our relationship has a strong foundation built on love, trust, friendship, and respect. We hope to instill these same values in our child. Taking vacations is one of our favorite things to do. Some of the places we have traveled to are Cancun Mexico, Disney World, the Bahamas, North Carolina (Steve's family lives there), Las Vegas, Canada and New York City. Once a year we go to southern New York, (just minutes outside of New York City where Steve grew up) to visit Steve's childhood friends and to shop at one of the largest outlet centers. Throughout our travels we have seen and experienced a variety of different cultures and appreciate the differences in each one. We are very excited to go on future trips like these with our child and to teach them about their culture as well as others. We share our home with two dogs, Shyler and Sully. Shyler is a 13 year old Siberian Husky and Sully is a 5 year old Boston Terrier/French Bulldog mix that we rescued 2 1/2 years ago. Both of our dogs enjoy playing with the neighborhood kids, taking walks in the woods near our home and going to the local creemee stand for "doggie delights" (ice cream for dogs).

7: My Husband Steve (written by Melynda) Steve is truly my best friend and the love of my life. He is someone I can count on when times are tough and celebrate when good news comes our way. What I love most about Steve is his sense of humor. He loves life and lives it to the fullest each day. Steve is a team player in our marriage and always helps out around the house. He doesn't believe housework is only the women's job and jumps right in to help clean. Steve has a very strong sense of who he is and always upholds his morals and values. He leads by example and knows how to show others to do the same for themselves. Hobbies and Interests Steve has a deep passion for snowboarding and loves to spend his time teaching friends and neighborhood kids how to snowboard. In the winter Steve has a small business where he waxes skis and snowboards for the local schools ski and snowboard club. Steve enjoys spending time with our dogs, landscaping our yard, home improvement projects, boating on the lake by our house, and making Halloween costumes. Each year Steve and a co-worker compete at work in a Halloween contest for the best homemade costume. Profession Steve has an Associates Degree in Horticulture and Applied Plant Sciences. Steve was born and raised in New York where at the age of 16 he started a landscaping business. In 1999 Steve decided to sell his business of 13 years and move to be closer to larger ski resorts to follow his passion. This is where he started a new profession as a Production Scheduler. Steve has been with his company for 13 years and loves the people he works with. | Steve snowboarding. | Steve on left with one of his many homemade Halloween costumes. | Steve fishing with his nephew and brother in-law. | Steve waxing a pair of skis. 9: My Wife Melynda (written by Steve) Melynda is the most caring and loving person I know. She has been my rock through both good and bad times. She is always there for her family and friends whenever they need her. When you see her with our friends' children, our nieces and nephews, and our dogs you can just tell she was meant to be a mother. Hobbies and Interests Melynda enjoys spending time with our dogs, shopping, music, dancing, hanging out with friends and family, boating, going to the movies, gardening, reading and taking vacations. Melynda loves to cook and entertain and has fond memories of cooking with her mother and grandmother during the holidays. Friendship and loyalty are very important to Melynda. She and her friends like to meet for lunch and chat and laugh for hours. Profession Melynda's career has been in successful administrative positions ranging from an Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer at a credit union serving low income folks to her current position as a Program Manager. As a Program Manager she helps commercial business owners receive rebates for energy efficient upgrades they install in their buildings. The company Melynda works for has a strong belief in family values and has flexible work hours for all employees. | Melynda at Sea World. | Melynda snowboarding with her friend. | Melynda petting a baby kangaroo at Bush Gardens. | Melynda spending time on the lake with her niece..

11: Our Family Steve's parents, originally from New York, moved to North Carolina to enjoy their retirement in a warmer climate. They spend their time traveling and having fun with their 5 grandchildren. Steve has two older sisters, who also moved to North Carolina, both which are happily married with children. Out of the 5 grandchildren, there is one boy and four girls all of which range in age from 8 - 13. Steve is the godfather to his nephew Kyle. We keep in touch with our nieces and nephews through visits throughout the year and frequent phone calls. Even though Steve's family lives in North Carolina we always swap holidays between our family's homes each year. Melynda's parents live 20 minutes from our home, are self employed and own a cleaning and trucking business. Melynda's mom enjoys gardening and spending time with her kids (and is excited to have her first grandchild!) and her father enjoys riding his Harley. Melynda has a younger brother who recently got married and also lives about 20 minutes away from us. We have very loving and supportive parents, siblings, and friends who can not wait for us to bring home a sweet little baby to love. | Steve with his parents and sisters. | Melynda's parents. | Melynda's brother and sister in-law. | Dinner with Steve's parents.

13: Our Home & Neighborhood Our home is a warm and inviting 3 bedroom colonial located in a cul-de-sac in a family orientated neighborhood. We have a nice level yard which is perfect for a swing set and for playing outside activities. Our neighborhood abuts to acres of town land where there are walking trails, a playground, and library. We like to entertain and since most of our neighbors, friends, and family have children our house is made for fun with many indoor and outdoor games. We frequently get together with our neighbors to have dinners and even to help rake leaves, shovel snow, and help put up holiday decorations. We live in a safe and secure neighborhood with good schools. | Our Home. | Our back deck. | Winter in the Northeast.

17: Traditions Some of our traditions are our annual Halloween pumpkin carving party. Getting hot chocolate and walking around our local tree farm looking for our Christmas tree to cut down. Decorating Easter eggs with Melynda's family. Watching our towns 4th of July fireworks celebration from our back yard with family and friends. We always talk about how special it will be to share these traditions with our child and to create new ones. | Parenting Style Our first priority is to make our child feel safe and loved. We will surround them with support through the good times in life and the challenges they will face. We will give them the tools to know right from wrong and raise them to be a strong independent person with a zest for life. | Decorating our home for Christmas. | Decorating our home for Halloween.

19: Thank you! Thank you for taking the time to learn about us...our life, our love, and our desire to be parents. We hope this profile has told you a little more about us. We want you to know that if you choose to place your child with us we will always be grateful for the blessing you have given us. We are both far from perfect but we promise to always strive to provide a loving, stable home with family and friends to love him or her. We can only imagine the difficult and painful decisions you have ahead of you. You have our deepest respect and gratitude. Regardless of the decision you make, we wish you the best of luck and love in life. Our Warmest Wishes, Steve & Melynda
