FC: The French Revolution | "French Revolution Timeline." - N.p., n.d. Web. 15 Nov. 2012. .

I am a peasant and am in the third estate. I have very little rights and do basically everything for the people in the first and second estates. | .

Money | The government was bankrupt. We mostly spent our money on wars. Many people accused the royals, especially Queen Marie- Antoinette of spending too much money on luxuries. Others said that the tax system was corrupt and some tax-collectors did not hand all their taxes over to the government. Louis asked the nobility to help him reform the tax system. Members of the first and second estates did not have to pay taxes, but yet i have to because I'm in the third estate.

 .

Bad Harvest | A lot of us in France depend on agriculture and farming. In 1787 through 1789, terrible weather, heavy rain, hard winters and two hot summers led to three very bad harvests. Me being a peasant i had smaller income, while food prices rose sharply. Many farmers became unemployed because of poor harvests. Many poor people are starving but could not afford food and could not find a job. But the nobility, the clergy and King Louis and his family continued to live in the lap of luxury, in their palaces and chateaux.

 .

King Louis calls an Estates General meeting. I hope for solutions, our representatives asked us to draw up a list of complaints to talk about at the Estates General meeting. King Louis hoped the Estate General would approve new taxes for the nobility. | Estates General Calls Meeting

The nobles and clergy hoped they would control the affairs to continue their privileged lifestyles and the middle class hoped for an English style democracy. | .

National Assembly | Deputies of our estate are tired of the arguments over how each order should vote, so they declare themselves a "national assembly". We represent 96% of the population, so I think we are the true parliament. We want to draw up a constitution showing how France is to be governed. Our members met at the royal tennis courts and pledged an oath (The Tennis Court Oath) that we will not leave until the the King agrees to meet our demands.

Great Fear | I've heard that the nobles are hiring outlaws to terrorize us. Everyone is beginning to panic we all call this the Great Fear. We are starting to become outlaws ourselves, we have pitchforks and other farm tools as our weapons. We've been breaking into nobles houses and destroying the old legal papers that bind us to pay feudal taxes. And sometimes we even burned down the manor houses.

 .

Assembly Reforms France | Nobles have been making many grand speeches about their love for liberty and equality. The National Assembly adopted a statement of revolutionary ideals, the Declaration of the rights of Men and of the Citizen, this stated that "men are born and remain free and equal in rights." Including "liberty, property, security and resistance of oppression."

 .

Legislative Assembly | The National assembly complted the new constitution, which Louis reluctantly approved. It created a limited constitutional monarchy. Also a new legislative body called the Legislative Assembly. The Legislative Assembly split into three general groups, each of which sat in different parts of the meeting hall.

 .

War | There were many wars in the French Revolution. Also many peasants were sentenced to execution. I was executed for not agreeing with the king. I will go on to be killed/beheaded by The Guillotine.
