BC: ROOM SUMMARY BY ANGEL RILEY
FC: MOTHER'S DAY CELEBRATION | "Room" Summary | Book report by- Angel Riley | By Emma Donoghue
Five year old Jack and his mom live in a room. They have never left that room. His mom has been trapped there for 7 years. A man named Old Nick put her there and has never let her out. He comes and visits at night to make sure she is there. Then she had her son Jack. He is five and has lived there his whole life. He doesn't think like a normal kid though, because he has never been outside. He doesn't know what it feels to play in the warm air, but a longtime ago his mom did. Jack names things in his room. He names the room "Room" and he names other things too.
 All his furniture has names.
He talks to the furniture in his room like they are his friends. He tells them everything. And at night when he can't sleep he will talk to the bed.
Jacks mom was fed up with living in a room. and she wanted to find a way to get her and her son out. She lay Jack in bed and makes him pretend to be sick. That night when Old Nick visited she asked him to take Jack to the hospital. Once he got him to the hospital he jumped up and told them Old Nick was a criminal and how he had trapped them.
They soon arrested Old Nick and Jack and his mom lived with their grandparents. They showed Jack the world. It was amazing for him. He went to school soon after and made many friends.
Once Jack got to see the real world he changed a lot. Once he went to school he made real friends that weren't furniture. He started learning and playing like the rest of the kids.
He changed physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually after he left the room.
If I were a character in this book I would like to be Jacks sister. If i were a character it would change the story because there would be more people for his mom to take care of and she would of had to find something to do with me while Jack was in the hospital He would also have another person to talk to so all the furniture wouldn't have become his friends.
<----- Me (The little girl) | If I were in the story I would have solved the problem by distracting Old Nick and had everyone run out the door.
