2: United States of America: -federal system -Constitution ratified in 1789 - limited government power - market economy

3: Executive Branch: President is the head of government and chief of state, he's elected by popular vote to serve a 4 year term | Legislative Branch: Bicameral congress consists of the Senate with 100 seats and a House of Representatives with 435 seats | Judicial Branch: Supreme court is the highest court with 9 justices nominated by the president to serve a life term

4: Major Political Parties: -Democratic -Republican -Libertarian | Exports: soybeans, fruit, corn, organic chemicals, transistors, aircraft, motor vehicle parts, computers, automobiles, medicine | Imports: crude oil, computers, telecommunications equipment, motor vehicle parts, office machines, clothing, medicine, furniture, toys

5: The United States of America was founded on the concept that everyone is created equally. After gaining independence from Great Britain, and in creating a new constitution the United States goal was to abstain from one person controlling the whole country. Instead, the country was set up to equally distribute power and keep a balance between the branches.

7: Executive Branch: The Queen is the chief of state, while the head of state, is he prime minister who appoints a cabinet * there are no elections because the monarchy is hereditary | Legislative Branch: Bicameral Parliament consists of the House of Lords and the House of Commons | Judicial Branch: Supreme Court is the highest court consisting of 12 justices selected by a committee and appointed by a Queen

9: In 1707, the United Kingdom became a political union with the Treaty of Union which stated that the United Kingdom shared a single constitutional monarch and a single parliament. From the 1200’s the United Kingdom tried to limit the power of the monarch starting the Magna Carta with King John. Since then, they have developed a balance between the houses of parliament and the monarch creating a balanced and equal monarchy.

13: Mexico, being the site of many American civilizations, has a government heavily influenced by the United States. Mexico wasn't an independent country until the 19th century, and since then it's had a slow growing democracy. Their federal republic system has been built on the united states with many aspects the same, such as the national level sharing power with elected legislatures in each of their states.

14: The People's Republic of China | Last ratified constitution: December 4, 1982 Unitary system being a Communist state Economy has moved from a command economy to a more market oriented mixed economy

15: Executive Branch: President is the Chief of State, has a vice president; head of government is the Premier and the cabinet is the State Council appointed by National People's Congress, who also elect the president and the vice president for a 5 year term | -Legislative: unicameral National People's Congress, 2,987 seats for members elected by municipal, regional, and provincial people's congresses; elected by the people | -Judicial: Supreme People's Court is the highest court: 340 judges, 13 grand justices on a civil committee; chief justice is appointed by the People's National Congress with 5 year terms

17: From the beginning of China they were a sovereign state running on a feudal system, but in the 18th century China was still restricted from foreign policies and their first war resulted in the end of sovereignty and became communist.

19: -Executive: Chief of state is the president who is elected for 5 years, head of government is prime minister, cabinet is appointed by the president | -Legislative: unicameral Hellenic Parliament, 300 members elected by popular voted | -Judicial: Hellenic Supreme Court of Civil and Penal law is the highest court consisting of 56 judges who are selected by the Supreme Judicial Council, appointed for life

21: In the 1830’s, Greece received independence from the Ottoman Empire, and during the 20th century it was temporarily ruled by Italy and Germany. After becoming fully independent, Greece became heavily anticommunist and fought against communist rebels. In 1970, Greece was taken over by a military dictatorship and forced the king to flee Greece, and eventually a parliamentary republic was established, abolishing the monarchy.
