FC: Foothill Music Theatre presents

1: Annie Get Your Gun tells the story of the legendary Annie Oakley's rise to fame. She's been "doin' what comes natur'lly," but barely scraping by, taking care of her younger siblings. She enters a shooting competition against the handsome Frank Butler, and she's smitten from the first time she lays eyes on him. She's not exactly his type, and it doesn't help when she beats him in the shooting match. She laments that "you can't get a man with a gun." Seeing the potential for a great new act, Buffalo Bill, the owner and operator of a traveling show convinces her "there's no business like show business," so she joins up. Frank, meanwhile, is starting to fall for Annie, but his pride always seems to get in the way. Incensed that she's a better shot than he is, he leaves the show. When they finally reunite at an important ball, it seems the two will finally be getting hitched after a whole lot of hoopla. Instead, the lovebirds quarrel, as Annie tells Frank, "anything you can do, I can do better!" The lesson they learn is that love is not a competition, "it's wonderful."

2: "The cowboys, the wrestlers, the tumblers, the clowns, The roustabouts that move the show at dawn... | The music, the spotlights, the people, the towns, Your baggage with the labels pasted on...

3: The sawdust and the horses and the smell. The towel you've taken from the last hotel... | There's no business like show business, Like no business I know. Everything about it is appealing, Everything the traffic will allow. Nowhere could you get that happy feeling, When you are stealing that extra bow. There's no people like show people, They smile when they are low. Even with a turkey that you know will fold, You may be stranded out in the cold, Still you wouldn't change it for a sack of gold. Let's go, on with the show! Let's go! On...with...the...show!"

4: Of the shows I've been in, these costumes were definitely the best! I had more fun getting ready for "Annie Get Your Gun" than in any other show.

Her nails will be polished and in her hair she'll wear a gardenia and I'll be there. Instead of flittin', I'll be sittin'; next to her I'm cheerful like a kitten. A doll I can carry, the girl that I marry must be." - Frank Butler | Dream on, Frank!
