38: Dear Bill and Phyllis, You have been a big part of the New Trier group over the years and I have so many special memories from years past. All of the gatherings especially Phyllis's 50th when I offered to make a cake and they told us that would be fine and there would be a $2.50 slicing charge--well Phyllis you never got that home baked cake! The short weekend trips-Jay's where the balloons never took off, the wonderful times at Rancho La Puerta-eating, exercising--and all of the rest and especially being with our wonderful friends. Our time when everyone was still here to thoroughly enjoy the compound at Green Lake. Many happy memories. And then, of course, the time I took the wrong passport to the airport to go to France. I have found out since then that I am not the only one who has done that kind of thing traveling, but boy at the time I could not have been more embarrassed and upset. Oh well, life does go on. Our lunches together many times when Phyllis, you and I have been in town. Think how much we use the computers to put together our events. I remember you on your phone making a reservation for your nails in the San Diego airport. I am looking forward to the next 15 years, at least. There are many more times I could mention; however I imagine others have reminded a lot of them already. Dick and I want to wish you and your lovely family many more healthy and enjoyable times. We are so pleased to be a part of your life. We look forward to lunches at Panera, picnics, and anything else we can come up with for the group to do. See you very soon. Best of everything and love, Robin and Dick

40: The Core

44: A Few Glimpses from Your Fifty Years There are a lot of Brainard & Chambers sharing moments, starting with some long-ago North Shore roots, and burgeoning with the Sara/Diana, Julie/Tess classroom connections at Royle, (think Round-up, PTO meetings, Girl Scouts), Middlesex (color teams, sports, party supervision—something about taking their shoes being a means of, what? --control? Right!) and the high school (more sports, less supervision), not to mention Board of Ed meetings and Board of Ed meeting planning meetings. Can’t forget Monday morning tennis talk, with an occasional game, and a still-vivid visual for me of seeing Phyllis across the net, at the ready and looking so like Julie that I almost lost the point (which maybe I did, the score never being a big part of Monday morning tennis). A bit like the bridge evenings with Jean and Betsy and Linda when it was a rare event that the cards got any more use than a distracted shuffle. | A highlight, of course, was the trip to Glacier National Park, gorgeous Glacier National Park, with Phyllis navigating Going to the Sun Road like any trucker five times her size, and Amy’s totally successful and indelible bear-scare game plan. The best/worst of that trip being Phyllis’s announcement, deep in the woods one day, that she...well, that she was dealing with a pre-menopausal condition, that, according to Amy’s continuous readings aloud of her innumerable Fatal Encounters with Grizzlies books, put us in supreme danger. Forget the bear bells. The later visits to the Chicago apartment were so much tamer, listening to Sam and Bill discuss the best routes from somewhere to somewhere else. And then the best and most generous sharing--our Year of Sara. Deep roots and wonderful memories. We thank you for them all. Best wishes, huge congratulations and much love— Dulcy and Sam
