BC: Until we meet again...

I've been to cities that never close down From New York to Rio and old London town But no matter how far Or how wide I roam I still call Australia home I'm always travelin' And I love bein' free So I keep leavin' the sun and the sea But my heart lies waiting over the foam I still call Australia home All the sons and daughters spinning 'round the world Away from their families and friends Ah, but as the world gets older and colder It's good to know where your journey ends And someday we'll all be together once more When all the ships come back to the shore Then I realize something I've always known I still call Australia home No matter how far Or how wide I roam I still call Australia home! August 3-21, 2011

60th Birthday Dinner Waves Restaurant at the Watermark Hotel Happy Birthday, Dad!

Dad's 60th Birthday Party! | Mum threw a great party with lots of food, karaoke, family and friends! The highlight of the night was watching all seven of the Broekman kids sing "I Still Call Australia Home" together. There were a few tears! Such a special memory for us all! It reminded us how much we love each other and what a rare opportunity this was to be together... back home in Australia!

Mum and dad rented two vacation condos at a place called Mermaid Waters for us to occupy during our first week together. We lived with Julia, Andy, Landan, Rob and Melissa. Paul, Angela, Isabelle, Rick, Tanya, Xander, Rebekah and Emily stayed at the other unit. Our back doors opened up facing each other, with a lawn and pool right in the middle to enjoy breakfasts and down time together! It was great to have our own space but still be near everyone to hang out!

Brisbane Australia Temple | A highlight of our trip was getting to be in the Brisbane Temple as a family to seal Oma and Opa Broekman to each other and then seal Dave's dad to them. Dave was proxy for Opa Broekman and Jacqui was proxy for Oma Broekman. The Spirit was very strong and happy tears were shed as Fred was sealed to his parents! | Kangaroo point

 Fun In GILSTON!

Dinner at the Forstpointner's in CABOOLTURE

Truly, the best part of our trip was getting to spend time with Dave's family. We met spouses, nieces and nephews we hadn't met before. We spent tons of time just talking and laughing and really getting to know each other. Bonds were created on this trip that will tie our family together over time and distance.

Yatala Pie Company aussie meat pies, chips with gravy and sarsaparilla

 Coolum Beach

After a week with the family, we headed north to Coolum and Bargara where Dave could scuba dive the Great Barrier Reef near Lady Musgrave Island and Natalie could just relax for a few days on the beach with a book! We stayed in gorgeous hotels, drove around in our sporty blue car and just enjoyed being away together in such a beautiful place! | Eumundi Market | Manta Bargara | Great Barrier Reef | Sugar Cane Fields | Lady Musgrave Island

They know exactly when lunch will be served and start congregating on the beach... nevermind the many spectators who think it's great fun to watch the action! | Dave "planked" with the pelicans! | Nat got pooped on by an over-head bird!
