2: Preserved in the beautiful setting of an Alpine Valley, the church of Wies (1745-1754) the work of architect - Dominikus Zimmerman | Figure of the 'Scourged Saviour' | The miracle of June 14, 1738 Tears were seen on the face of the Scourged Saviour which rapidly developed a pilgrimage of great proportions

3: The Wies song Come and praise Him, in this sacred place come seek him out in the Wies. Open-hearted, thank Him for His grace, for He offers us peace. Oh, my Jesus, fairest Jesus, in the Wies who so full of blessings is. | This original chapel was built for the Pilgrimage in 1740 and still stands in the parking lot. | Dominikus & his brother, Johann, both did the stucco work and marbling | Me, going to church

7: Karen and I took a walk on the trail across the road from the hotel. | The village was celebrating a wedding that night and the local Bravarian singers were practicing, they belted out a beautiful song for us and we were all invited to share in the celebration that evening. | The village sports complex, park and cattle grazing area across the street from our Hotel. | Karen leaving home? Actually we were just taking an afternoon stroll.

8: Hotel Maximilian Ehenbichl, Austria | Ehenbichl - first recorded history goes back to 1404. Located in the valley basin of Reutte far from the hustle & bustle of a large city, at the foot of Schlossberg mountain. Separated from Reutte by the 939 m Sintwag mountain. 9: It's hard to believe that the very next day, Richard & Cindy would convince me to climb those hills to the castle. | Karen, Richard & Cindy blending in with the locals | The village Five time European Champion Alpaca & two of his siblings on their way to Italy for a showing. Had a great conversation with the owners.

10: The village milk dispensary available 24 hrs. a day | Coming from the park across from our hotel, where they were grazing, to the milking barn | At the barn, it's milking time! Not everyone was happy with their picture being taken. The lady on the right stuck out her tongue at us. | One of the typical homes with their firewood stack

22: Staubbach Falls | The very name 'Lauter Brunnen' ('many fountains') suggests the magnificence of this landscape. There are 72 waterfalls in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, the most famous being Staubbach Falls. Plunging almost 300 metres from an overhanging rock face, they are one of the highest free-falling waterfalls in Europe.

25: Stechelberg to Gimmelwald from the Schilthornbahn | The Schilthorn cable car stops in Gimmelwald where we boarded another one (the one we are on now) to Murren. Notice the suspension bridge right below us. | "If Heaven isn't what it's cracked up to be, send me back to Gimmelwald." | Gimmelwald is a small village in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland, halfway up the mountain between Stechelberg & Murren. elev. 4472 ft. | Stechlberg Station

26: Birg Sits at 2676 m (8,780 ft) on the slopes of the Schilthorn. Passengers may disembark here at the restaurant or continue on to the Schilthorn | From Murren to Birg | Karen enjoying the view? | Murren - another view

27: My gloves | Passing the Riggli Ski lift on the slopes of the Schilthorn | This is what we were supposed to see. The Eiger (3970 m), the Monch (4,099 m) and the Jungfrau (4,158 m)

28: Entrance to Piz Gloria restaurant and gift shop - Piz Gloria is a revolving restaurant on Schilthorn. The name Piz Gloria originated in the James Bond novel 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' The restaurant (upper floor) revolves once evry hour elev. 2,970 m (9.744 ft) | Karen admiring the mineral rock collection in the restaurant | Waiting for the fog to lift - 10:24 am at roughly 9,700 ft and in the cold!!!! | A sign inside 'Let not the manners of the valley drive considerately' ???

29: Too much fog, we waited one hour to see if it would burn off. Watched 007 movie clip and had cocoa | We'll be back next year to get that clear photo of the mountains | No high heels ladies! | Nothing but fog
