 Lajes, Azores 2009 - 2010
The kids loved to come here to climb over the round rocks and search for sea glass and shells. We also enjoyed watching the waves crash into the rocks along the coastline.
Biscoits was a spot with swimming holes and lots of crashing waves.
Jeff and Andy found these cannons overlooking Biscoits. The kids tried to find a geocache in a cannon.
 D U C K P O N D
The duck pond offered so many options, walking around the small pond, feeding the ducks, hiking a short hike, and geocaching were our favorites!
Here the kids have found their treasure. The treasure boxes were always fun to find and the kids enjoyed introducing their friends to their hobby.
 We love the beach!!
Praia beach was a great place to swim, look for shells, or just enjoy the view.
 STREET AND BEACH BULLFIGHTS
Bullfights were a major local attraction on Terceira. Residents would "fight" the bulls in the street or on the beach while men in black hats and white shirts held onto a rope to "control" them. Typically no one got hurt.
Arena Bullfight | We went with friends to this bullfight. They don't kill the bulls and at the end of the horse part these guys jump on the front of the bull.
Stock car racing We watched small cars racing through the rockwall country roads taking turns at amazing speeds! | Alyiah was Heather's best buddy. We spent a lot of time with their family (Mary and Tom Perkins, Alyah and Zoey)
Spirit Houses Terceira has 68 impérios or Holy Spirit Houses. Colourful and ornate, with wrought iron balconies and a silver crown or white dove on top, they are centres of festivities for eight Sundays after Easter. From the spirit house the community has bread, wine and meat and a festive celebration is held. Each is beautiful and unique.
