Mommy and Daddy don’t know they are going to have me yet! I’m only a quarter inch long and weigh hardly anything. No wonder they don’t notice me yet! I have done the most rapid growth I will ever experience. I am now 10,000 times the size of Mom’s fertilized egg! My digestive track is starting to develop along with my spinal cord, backbone, and heart. Mom and Dad go for daily runs together. I hear my mom is talking about training for a marathon, whatever that is, but she often becomes low on nutrients and water. This doesn’t really affect me yet because I don’t require that much, but I sure hope it doesn’t continue! | Month 1

Mommy noticed that she missed her period at the end of last month! She’s kind of nervous because I am her first baby but at the same time she’s very excited! I am still very small with a length of less than an inch and still weigh not much more than a gram. I am developing my facial features such as my eyes, nose, lips, tongue, ears, and lips. Mom is kind of worried that she won’t be able to continue training for her marathon and, worse, not be able to compete in it. Dad wants her now to focus on me and making sure I am getting what I need. She is still training though. | Month 2

I am now starting to look like a baby now! My arms, hands, feet, legs, fingers and toes are now fully formed. My earlobes and fingernails have even started to come in. Although I am coming along quite nice, I still weigh less than an ounce and am only 3 inches long. My eyes and organs are mostly developed now. Mom has been sneaking hard runs in behind dad that he doesn’t know about. She has been keeping track of her hydration and nutrition much better now that she found out about me. She still isn’t doing the best with keeping me getting what I’m supposed to be getting, but maybe that will keep changing for the better. | Month 3

Dad found out about Mom and her runs. She was running about 10 miles a day. They got into argument about me. Mom really doesn’t want to give up this marathon. This will be the first she will run and she is afraid that after I am born, she won’t have time for another marathon and feels like this will be her last chance. Her dehydration has started affecting me and I haven’t been growing as fast as I should be. Most babies at this stage are 6 ” to 7” long but I am only 5 inches long and weigh 5.5 ounces. Maybe I will be a small but still healthy baby? My reflexes have developed and I have found my thumb. It’s quite fun to suck on! My teeth are even starting to form and best yet, my gender is now identifiable! I’m a girl! | Month 4

Dad is quite happy that he is going to have a little girl! They have done a little research about exercise and pregnancy. They have found out that when Mom works out until she is breathless, it could mean that I am not getting enough oxygen, which is very important to my development. Hair has started appearing on my head and I am 8 inches long weighing in at a little less than a pound. I’m still in the standard baby range, just a little small. Also, my organs have been maturing. | Month 5

Mom and Dad have come to an agreement now. Mom is going to run-walk the marathon. She has seen that a lot pregnant women who run tend to do this. I see this as a great option because she still gets to run her marathon and I am not in so much danger! It was dad’s idea. My eyelids are able to open now and I am able to see. It’s really weird! All there is is just black and darkness everywhere. I wish I had a light in here! I poked myself in eye with my developed fingernails and that didn’t feel very good! I am | Month 6

Ha! Turns out that thing jumping around in me is called a “hiccup”! I heard Mom talking about it last month because she could feel them too along with all my movements. Good thing she can feel my movements because I can feel every movement she makes when she’s running! It sure is bouncy in here! I am now over a foot long and weigh 2 lbs. I’ve come a long way from a few cells! I’m getting some weird sense on my tongue. It’s called tasting. I can do this now because my taste buds have developed. This fluid tastes nasty! My fat is also coming in. I’m starting to get nice and plump! Mom’s marathon is next month and I think we are both ready for it! | Month 7

Mom’s marathon is only a few days away! She has been drinking a lot of water and keeping up on eating the right foods. This includes the right amounts of servings, sufficient vitamins and minerals, and lots of fruit and vegetables. I am just under a foot and a half now and weigh 4 pounds! All my organs are now fully developed except for my lungs. My fingernails are now beyond my fingertips and this month I am growing very rapidly. I can kick with my feet and my Mom and Dad can see my movements from the outside! | Month 8

Mom’s marathon lasted for a long time! I didn’t think it would ever stop! She did her run-walk technique and it all worked out fine. I am due in a few days and am ready to get out of here! I am all curled up and have not much room to move. I have naturally shifted my body to prepare for birth. I am 18 inches long and weigh in at 7 pounds. My skin is now pink and soft and my lungs are fully developed. Wish me luck on the outside world! | Month 9
