FC: The Progress of OGBYN Doctors

Weir, Andre Block 4 The Workplace, yesterday, today, and tomorrow

 Technology Ultrasound Machine

In the early 1920's the ultrasound machines were used for therapy. | http://www.ob-ultrasound.net/history1.html

The idea of using ultrasonics for medicine had progressively matured in the 40's. Doctors used it to treat rheumatic arthritis in patients. Later on the ultrasound machine was use as a diagnose tool. As the uses for the equipment advance, doctors had to be skilled with the machine which means more doctors were needed. | http://www.ob-ultrasound.net/history1.html

http://www.ob-ultrasound.net/history1.html | In the 50's the machine was capable of detecting tumors in the body that can cause brain or breast cancer. As the economy grew, technology grew along with it. Doctors in this field were expanding because of the new technology the medical field was requiring. More demand for doctors with this skill was essential which led to better pay.

Ultrasound technology began to develop rapidly in the 1960s for use in obstetrics and gynecology. The first real-time ultrasound scanner was created in 1965. Pregnant women can now see their unborn babies in their womb. OGBYN doctors came into more use because they specialized in this type of machinery. The pay for these doctors were increasing because demand was rising in technology. | http://www.ob-ultrasound.net/history1.html

In the mid 80's the first 3-D ultrasound machine was created. This created better pictures when patients wanted to view their unborn baby. Skills were needed in oder to operate this equipment. Doctors had to learn how to handle and use these machines in the medical fields. Some doctors even had to go back for training to use these machines | http://goldenviewultrasound.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/3d-ultrasound-22-weeks-2-days1.jpg | http://www.aium.org/images/timeline/1980_1e.jpg

The occupation of the OGBYN had grown during the years. By the 90's and even now the ultrasound machines has been advancing rapidly creating more jobs for doctors. The advance of this machine has created endless possibilities, like detecting tumors easier, being able to see an unborn child in 3d, and many other advantages. Now when a student goes into the medical field, they don't only learn about medicine and the body but about the equipment and the uses. Since technology is growing everyday doctors must be comfortable with the equipment. Because of this progress the demands of doctors are increasing making their salaries more beneficial. The economy will always need doctors because people will always get sick. This is a main reason why the medical field has grown so much during the years and the technology advancing along with it. | http://www.kentmedicalimaging.co.uk/images/ATL-Ultrasound-machine.jpg | http://www.omega-imaging.com/ultrasoundMachine.jpg
