FC: HARVESTLANDS | THE FIRST 10 YEARS | 2001 - 2011
We first met Paul and Jo in 1993 whilst visiting David and Marie Skeat at the YWAM base in Albury, and as well as parenting their small family, they were also doing the Discipleship Training School. After completing their training Paul came to work for us for a year and it was during this time that we really got to know and love them and yes even with 20 plus years difference in our ages we now know God led us together in friendship for many causes, the most important being the reason we are celebrating "Harvestlands" 10th anniversary. A farm house halfway between Culcairn and Henty became their home for this first short journey of ministering in this area. It was this time that we began to witness the authority of the presence of God in both of them, but oh we were such slow learners and with so much unlearning to do! Close to our hearts we carry memories of worship around Jo's piano and prayer times like we had never ever experienced. They were raising their family to personally know Jesus, we recall the time when Paul wasn't feeling well and Zac and Jacob
"Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you" Jeremiah 29:7
together with Jo laid hands on him at our kitchen table and prayed for him. Children are little sponges soaking up everything parents do and say and some of us could say oh i wish... but be encouraged and thankful as we are are all a work in progress, just continue to seek Jesus. With a growing family and their obedience to God calling them back to Mildura, the fact that Paul was able to obtain his forklift license through Henty Field Days training program meant he was able to obtain employment fairly rapidly upon returning. Packing them up and saying "cheerio" was hard but some of Paul's last words were "Somehow i think we'll be back one day" imprinted deep within our hearts, little did we know it would be as our Pastor. God knew then that we all had long life-changing journeys ahead of us. After nearly two years of home church worshiping at our home with small nucleolus of people, "Harvestlands" was born and the Town Hall became our place of worship. It wasn't too long before we realised that these two special people were
completely operating outside OUR SQUARE if not their own in the way they were setting out to pastor Harvestlands. Weekly ladies meetings, men's groups, worship team, toy library, home groups, mothers groups, teaching, encouraging in any which way possible was the focus. With a growing family themselves and Jo's health not so good we truly do appreciate the sacrifice they made. With the purchase of Furze's Hardware Store and after much cleaning and painting, Bargain Basement became a reality in order to help generate much needed funds. We were catching the vision of "serving to see this area impacted for Jesus" and realising how privileged we were to be on this amazing journey in God. Stretching would be a mild descriptive word as we look back on these past ten years of our lives. With the purchase of the Church House much volunteer work went into changing rooms by pulling, putting and painting and oh how Ruth remembers painting the big room saying to herself "perhaps a toy library has to have bright colours" but thanks now Jo, I've come to love your colour schemes!

Harvestlands is God's pioneering work headed up by two extremely creative and passionate people with a mission to reach the city for God and now ten years later we know God has spoken and is speaking to many more that this pioneering work is not only for this city but well beyond, yes even beyond the shores of this wonderful land. We thank you Pastors Paul and Jo for uprooting your family, leaving a comfortable home, lifestyle, business, family and friends for this amazing work. May God bless you abundantly as you faithfully press on and lead the team on the journey that God still wants to take us on. Love always, Max and Ruth
