1: West Rome fell in AD 476. Even though the eastern side survived it later became known as the Byzantine Empire. | Fall of Rome

2: Beowulf was a great epic hero that was a king of Sweden. He defeated a twelve foot giant named Grendel and therefore gained hero status. Later on (about forty years later) he went back and killed Grendel's Mother but this time with the help of a comrade. | Beowulf

3: during the Middle Ages the main religion was Christianity. It was a time of inventions and a great time to live. They spoke both Latin and Old English. | Middle Ages

4: Joan of Arc | Joan of Arc was a very insistent and courageous girl that was burned at the stake because of what she believed in. She made many mistakes but learned from everyone of them which shows maturity.

5: Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire | The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire was a very tragic event in which during work hours the factory caught on fire and trapped over 200 women. 146 of them died and and many more where injured.

6: WWI (World War One) was a tragic war. Trench warfare was invented to protect the soldiers from the new weapon technologies (tanks,Mach-ine Guns, submarines, poison gas, and cannons). | WWI

7: America Enters WWI | America entered WWI after the sinking of the Lusitania of which was carrying both passengers and weapons. Afterwards President Woodrow Wilson Proclaimed the US at war.

8: WWI Ended in November 11, 1911 at 11:00 (11/11/11). This day was whenceforth called Armistice Day. Now we know it as Veterans Day. | Armistice Day

9: During WWII Hitler Was Assassinating Millions of Jews. He came up with the Final Solution which was the Killing of thousands of Jews and other "Undesirables". | WWII

10: Pearl Harbor was the event that brought the US into WWII. The bay, Pearl Harbor, was bombed by Japanese Planes and angered the president and he proclaimed the US at war. | Pearl Harbor

11: The Battle of Stalingrad in 1943 was the turning point of WWII. It was named after Joseph Stalin. | The Battle of Stalingrad

12: When the Japanese refused to surrender Ronald Regan ordered the dropping of bombs on two of their cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The next day Japan surrendered. | The Dropping of Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki

13: The Cuban Missile Crisis | The Cuban Missile Crisis was the event that almost threw the world into WWIII. The only thing that stopped it was an agreement that both sides avert their missiles.

14: In 1955 the Vietnamese worked t to gain their independence. The US though saw them as a "domino" that might topple into communism and fought to prevent it. | The Vietnam War

15: The Cold War was a 45-year struggle between the Communist Nations and the Soviet Bloc. At the end of the war the Soviet Union was divided into eight different nations: Russia being the largest of the eight. | The Cold War

16: The Berlin Wall Comes Down | the Berlin Wall was the symbol of the Cold War. In 1989 Ronald Regan convinced Mikhail Gorbachev to tear it down which was a symbol of communism at the time.

17: After WWI the British convinced the Jews to move to Palistine. After WWII the Jews renamed it as Israel. | Israel is Formed

18: 9/11 was a tragic terrorist attack on September 11, 2001. Some Muslim extremists bombed the New York World Trade Center (Twin Towers) and the Pentagon. It killed 3000 innocent people. | 9/11

19: The Industrial Revolution was a time when many things were being invented, factories especially. The factories were very dangerous and the worked men, women, and children very hard and many died. | Industrial Revolution

20: The capitol city was Constantinople of which was founded by Constantine. The end was signified with the Ottoman conquest of this city. | Byzantine Empire
