1: Kids made sandwiches during a 45-minute Social Studies session. Parent helpers distributed peanut butter, jelly, bread, plastic knives and gloves. They then bagged, boxed and counted sandwiches. | Rachel and Dominique

18: Parents donated gloves, plastic knives, table coverings, jelly, bread, peanut butter, boxes and sandwich bags for the 4th grade community service project. Students made 605 sandwiches, which were donated to the Saint Aloysius Warming Center in downtown Detroit. Additionally, we donated 9 jars of peanut butter and one jar of jelly to their food pantry. Thank you to all the fourth graders and their families for donating food items, materials and time. Special thanks to Mrs. Kelly (Richard teacher) and her son Andy, who delivered our donations as part of Andy's community service for Junior National Honor Society.

20: This community service project supported the State of Michigan's Grade Level Content Expectation for fourth graders. It states that "fourth graders will participate in community service projects to help or inform others."
