An amazing journey from the prospective of two 13 year olds who come from two completely different lives. A breath-taking, life or death journey across the Atlantic.
Setting: | This story mainly takes place on the Atlantic Ocean. Their goal is to make it to Ireland...alive.
Characters: | *Sophie *Cody: (told from both Cody and Sophie's prospective) *Brian *Mo *Stew *Dock *Bompie: This is Sophie's "grandfather" along with Cody and Brian. They are trying to reach him in his hometown Ireland.
The Plot | * Throughout the whole story Sophie has horrible nightmares about "the wave." She always wakes up before the wave comes crashing down over her. A lot of work has to be done on their ship, The Wanderer.
***** | *Then they are off! Soon, there is no land left. Then Sophie sees it "the wave." It's like all her nightmares have become reality. This is my favorite part.
*After "the wave" hits, everyone thinks they are doomed. They are not able to turn back. So, this forces them to continue.
"We are all quieter then usual, thinking about how fragile a line there is between being alive, and not being alive." -Sharron Creech The Wanderer
My connections... | Here are some connections i had with this book... * I have read lots of other books about a life or death adventure, such as cryptid hunters. * i've been out on choppy water, but it was never been this bad. so, at a certain level i can relate to that. * There is a lot of people who take this kind of trip, today. some people want to travel around the whole world. I bet they could relate to this book.
C R I T I Q U E | Overall, I thought this book was a great adventure story. Sometimes it could get boring, but it really was an good story. Here are some things I liked and disliked. | LIKED * The description of the story, *The way the author used 2 perspectives so you could get 2 sides from every situation *The ideas and adventure | DILIKED *Sometimes it dragged on *At a few points it went back and forth between Sophie and Cody too fast. Cody would write a sentence and it would be back to Sophie.
R E C O M M E N D A T I O N S | I would recommend this book to all people who like a good adventure told in a unique way. It is very creative, especially by the way the author tells the story (journal). Throughout the story, there are many mysteries, too. Such as... why is Sophie an orphan?
