Not being able to see out the windows to warn your family that someone bad is coming. Being quiet for many hours of the day must have been horrible,or even only bathing once a week. Not being able to celebrate your birthday and staying in doors in a office were no one knew where you were couldn't be pleasant. Was Anne proud that her diary got published?
