In September, 2009, I took a trip that changed my life. I had been in a dead end marriage for a long time, and was absolutely miserable. Even though I had retired, my only passion in life was travel. The only time I was even moderately happy was travelling, planning for travel, or reminicing about travel. Things I had enjoyed before were no longer important for me; ie. music and literature. Even though I was on medication, depression ruled my life. Then, in September, I took a transatlantic cruise. The trip began in London; boarded the ship in Dover; travelled to the Shetland Islands of Scotland, Iceland, Halifax in Canada, and ended in New York. On the trip, I met a delightful little man, Ferdi Paolo, who worked on the ship. Without going into detail, he helped me realize what I had been missing in life. When I came home, I was a changed woman. I never saw Ferdi again, but I thank him for helping me get my life back. After getting home, I knew I had to make some changes. So I packed my most important things and moved out. I started exercising, eating right, and lost about 70 pounds in the next 8 months. I was able to get off several medications, even cut back on the anti-depressants. I reinvented myself. 2010 was the 1st complete year of my new life and it was quite a roller coaster. I wanted to record it for ????? (what's that word?) Anyway, here it is...

July 4th/5th the beginning of the end... 2 weeks after these pics, I got an email from Rob saying he couldn't take it any more. He had had bad luck since we 1st started dating, and it just kept getting worse. So, he determined I was somehow the cause and he didn't want to see me, be near me, hear from me. So it was over... I was sooo angry... ... never saw him again ...

July 22 Met with Reginald Parker, former student, in Raleigh. "Instant Chemistry" | In August, flew to Monterey, CA to spend a few days with Reggie. Wonderful!!

August/September In August, I moved from Lisa's house in Grifton to Garner, right outside of Raleigh. Nice 2 bed/2 bath apartment. surrounded by trees, pool, fitness room, beautiful neighborhood. In August, also met Robert Jenkins and began dating him. In September, began mentoring with PHAT Kids, and Pebbles McClain. Pics from "Wine Uncorked" fundraiser

FALL, 2010 Robert began to pull back, said things were moving too fast. So, I met a couple of other guys, Joe Hill and Gerald Huntsley. Dated both several times. | JuJu

I'm sure you've noticed my preference for black men... I've always had the attraction, at least since I was about 12, when I had a crush on a "colored" boy who helped us barn tobacco. but growing up in the South in the 60s/70s, I didn't have the guts to act on the attraction. After leaving my husband, I decided it was time... During the year, I dated several different men, only one of them white. He was a British man, from Raleigh, who was in his early 40's. He wanted a NSA relationship. I don't want that. I want a committed relationship. Joe Hill was alot of fun, 40 years old and gorgeous, but he didn't want a relationship either. Gerald Huntsley was a definite possibility, but I blew it by lying to him. He called me on it, I admitted it readily, but it was too late. Never saw him again. The story: Christmas day, I came home from my parents, depressed, and went to bed. Got a message from Gerald saying to check my email. Told him I was still at my parents and couldn't check it. Come to find out, he was at the apartment and wanted to see me. Didn't realize it till too late. He saw my car in the parking lot and questioned me. Told him I had ridden with my brother to Mama and Daddy's. When I saw him a few days later, he questioned me and I told the truth. During this time, I continued to talk to Robert Jenkins and see him sporadically. Even referred to him as my boyfriend. But, On December 9th, Robert said he didn't have time to be a boyfriend. So that was that. Still talk to him and text often

December, 2010 the year ends. still single, but satified with my life... maybe 2011 will be the year to find him...
