FC: Ellie Beth's 2nd Year
Friday, August 13, 2010 My Favorite Birthday Gift I've been carrying these balloons around for the past week! Who knew that out of all the things I got for my birthday, this would be the favorite?
Sunday, August 22, 2010 Persistence I've been trying to tell mom for a while now, that I no longer need her help eating with a spoon. I mean, it's not like it's that difficult or anything... I just stick it in the bowl... put it in my mouth... and repeat! Never mind that I end up with very little in my mouth... I'm having fun! (And I don't mind that mom slips a few bites into my mouth while I'm at it.) Just goes to show what you can do with a little persistence!
Wednesday, September 1, 2010 Always On The Move | Hi! We've been so busy lately we haven't been keeping up on our blogging duties :-). But we have been having fun and I am so fast and busy now days that it's almost impossible to keep up! Here's a few of the adventures I've been having lately... On Saturday we headed up to the canyon and played in the park. My favorite spot was the drinking fountain. I just kept running over their, climbing up the stairs begging for drinks.
On Monday night for FHE we went to Thanksgiving Point to run around (yes, I can run really fast now!), see a few animals and have some ice cream! | "No Dad, I don't need your help with my messy ice cream!" | I have a new favorite food, spaghetti and meat balls, especially the meat balls! Who needs a bib when I can just wipe everything in my hair? | I've been having a lot of fun with all of my birthday toys and clothes! Look how long my hair is getting!
Monday, September 13, 2010 The Things I Do | Here are a few of my favorite things to do... Dress up in my fluffy skirt, play in the tupperware cupboard... Eat warm chocolate chip cookies (this was my 1st one ever!) And watching the laundry go "round and round" never gets old!
Tuesday, September 21, 2010 Harvest Time | The past few weeks we've been enjoying fresh produce from that little garden I helped plant in the spring. Our tomatoes took a while but are finally ripe and I've learned to love them! I know right where the little cherry tomatoes are and I go strait for them when I'm playing in the backyard. The other day I was munching on them while mom was picking the bigger tomatoes and when she turned around she saw this! Those little ones were so tasty, why not go for the BIG one? I walked around the yard munching on my tomato, and chatting like it was the best discovery ever. I practically devoured the whole thing. YUM!
Thursday, September 30, 2010 Talkin' & Rockin' | Lately I've been really busy playing! I'm often seen walking around chatting away on the nearest phone or remote control & rocking away in my little rocking chair. Outside is still my favorite place to be! Besides eating tomatoes, here are a few of my favorite things to do: Running up and down hills.Talking with Pooh Bear Swinging in the big kid swing! That's right... the BIG kid swing. Doing tricks in the big kid swing! And I just can't stay away from rocks, dirt, and water.
Wednesday, October 6, 2010 Couch Potatoes | A cup of honey nut cheerios, a Disney movie, & cousins. It doesn't get much better that that! | Monday, October 18, 2010 Fun With Food They may make these sippy cups baby proof, but they are certainly NOT Ellie proof!Mom left the room for a minute, heard some banging going on in my high chair and came back to find this! I know how to have a good time while eating my meals!
Monday, October 18, 2010 Visit With Kealey & Fam We had a great time with you all on Saturday! I thoroughly enjoyed being the center of attention the whole time. I thought it was so great being able to keep everyone laughing the whole time. I know I said that Daddy's funny, but I think I have him beat!!I may be just a little possessive of my toys :-) My favorite part of our visit had to be the yummy dumbells:-) Well, your cream-sickle was pretty tasty too! Thanks for giving me some bites! Good times!! We love you & had a great time chatting!
Wednesday, October 20, 2010 Funny Things I Say Before we forget, here are some of the words I've been using a lot lately:Mommy, Daddy, Book, Bike, Shoe, Button (belly button), Bite, Ellie, Yep, NO, Eye, Baby, Boots, Milk, Hi, Hello, Bye, and Love You. Those are just the ones I use on a regular basis, and I'm doing a whole lot of mimicking words too. About a week ago I was playing with daddy and he put a stuffed cow on his head. I pointed to it, laughed, and said, "Daddy's funny!". I certainly think he is! Last time I went to Costco with mom, we walked in the store a short ways and I suddenly realized something about this store. I looked at mom and said "bite?" and shook my head up and down so mom could be clear that that's what I wanted. I wasn't going to let this opportunity for some delicious samples pass me by! A while ago we were at the grocery store checking out & after we were done the lady at the check out said. "Have a good day!", Mom said "Thanks", and to everyone's surprise I said "Thank you!" as clear as can be. She looked at me with surprise and said "Well, your welcome sweet heart!" The other day mom fed me scrambled eggs with a bunch of veggies mixed in. I wasn't too keen on eating them so I decided throwing them all over would be much better use of them. I chucked a handful into a nearby laundry basket & in a moment of frustration mom said " Ugggh, Ellie No!". She got me cleaned up a bit, put me down on the floor, and began cleaning the mess up off the floor & out of the basket. I walked over near her, stomped my foot, growled, and said "No, no, no!" in the same kind of tone mommy did. I guess she'd better be careful at what she says!
 October 29, 2010 Happy Halloween!
15 Month Check Up Sunday, November 7, 2010 | Height: 32 inches 91.05 percentile Weight: 23.9 lbs. 67.66 percentile Head Circumference: 17.75 inches 27.48 percentile I'm officially more that half my mom's height! I'm certainly going to catch up to her before anyone expects it :-). I guess I've been slacking a little on my good eating habits, so we'll work on that with some more steak, meatballs, & ice cream! But I'm sure that my activeness has a lot to do with that; I'm so busy & fast now days! I'm doing much better than the average toddler in my motor & cognitive skills. I'm saying so many words now & I can understand a lot when mom & dad talk to me. I love to help & I'm getting much better at learning to obey (though I still have a lot of mischievousness running through my blood :-). My curiosity is what helps me learn so quickly. Tonight in the car we were singing "Old McDonald Had a Farm" & I totally surprised mom & dad by telling them sounds that the duck, horse, pig, monkey, dog, lion, cat, & sheep make without them telling me first. Yep, I'm one smart kid!
We are so glad that we were able to be with you at the adoption walk again! It's hard to believe it has already been a year since we went last. It was so much fun to see you all & to celebrate our adoption miracle together. We are so grateful for adoption & for all that it has done for our little family. I bring so much joy & happiness into our home and I know that my parents feel that I am the best thing that could ever have happened to them. We love you so much & we can never thank you enough for the wonderful gift you have given our family. We feel so blessed to have you as a birth mom! | Sunday, November 7, 2010 Adoption Walk 2010
Sunday, November 14, 2010 Such a Good Helper! | Lately I love to help mom & dad with whatever they working on. Whether it be laundry, baking cookies, sweeping the floor, or raking the leaves I'm always right there by their side "helping". Forget these things... it makes it way to hard to do anything! I sure hope mom & dad appreciate all of my hard work!
Sunday, November 21, 2010 Squish Squash | Lets just say I LOVE SQUASH!! Mom made some for me a few days ago and I was excited about it as soon as I saw it baking in the oven. I saw mom getting it out of the oven and I ran and tried to climb up into my high chair. I impatiently watched her squish it all up with a fork and add butter & salt. We started out with the spoon; mom would give me one spoon full to shovel into my mouth while she filled another to give to me as soon as I finished the other. This was working just great until I realized it just wasn't the most efficient method. I rejected the spoon and started grabbing it by fistfuls and squishing it through my fingers & into my mouth. I kept saying, "squish, squash, and YUM, YUM, YUM!" As soon as I cleaned out the bowl I asked for more... not 1 time but THREE TIMES!I bet you can guess the next day's aftermath of this event... but mom was happy that I waited until daddy was watching me to fill my pants 3 times in one morning :-)
November 21, 2010 A Natural Artist One of my newly discovered talents is coloring. I must say it comes pretty naturally to me... As you can tell by the lovely purple line near my mouth I instinctive knew exactly what to do with the colored pencils :-) Today during sacrament meeting I created my first piece of original art called "Daddy". I drew the tall pointy shape in black first, pointed at it and said "Daddy". Then I drew all the pretty colors around it, pointed at it again and said "Daddy!" Isn't the resemblance amazing?
Wednesday, December 1, 2010 Oh What You Do When It's Winter Time? | And we are stuck inside because of the cold & wet weather... We build cup towers, play Macaroni & Cheese Dominoes, and visit Aunt Jaimie downstairs so she can give me bucket rides! I can't wait for my first snow adventures! We just have to get over these nasty colds we have first!
Box In Socks | Box on Socks... | Socks in Box. | Kid in Lid... | Lid on Kid! | Inside, Outside... | Up and Down. | Let's do it again, than turn round & round!
Christmas 2010 | This Christmas season has been so much fun with this little angel in our house. If we could just somehow bottle up the enthusiasm for life that this little girl has, we'd be rich! If only we all got so excited about every little light, decoration, and song. She lights up with joy, gives her ooohs and awwws, jumps, twirls, and screams with delight. She loves everything and everyone. Her Christ-like love reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas. We are so grateful for this time of year that we can reflect on the miracle of the birth of our Savior and rejoice in His life. We know that He lives and that he loves us, and that brings true joy to our hearts!
