S: Kristin's 21st Birthday

BC: Provers 31 Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She is like merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants. She considers a field and buys it: out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. In her arm she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes. She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

FC: A Collection of the Friendship: Kristin & Katie | 5/2/1990 | 1/22/1990

1: Dear Kristin, When I stop to think about all of the reasons why you are my best friend, it’s easy for me to list all that we have in common: our love for lake weekends, country music, all things pink and ruffled, deep conversations over lattes and cheesecake, discovering bargain shoes we don’t actually need; but the truth, however, is that it's actually a lot harder than I would expect. To be honest, it almost seems easier to make a list of our differences- whether in our tastes of music, movies, boys, or favorite flavors (who likes orange and yellow flavored candy?!)... I've realized, though, that in every way that our personalities contrast, they also significantly complement one another. In everything that makes you who you are- like the way that you brush your teeth in the morning BEFORE breakfast, only add half of a Splenda packet to your coffee and tea, or the way that you mix your cereals together (all of which mannerisms, by the way, I have adopted as of August 2008)- I wouldn’t change any aspect of who you are to make you any more like me. For me, the perfect friend is one who fills in all of the missing pieces of myself- and that someone happens to be you. If I didn’t have someone like you to listen to my heart, stand by me through all of the struggles and chaos, and understand my feelings like only a true best friend can, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. What I love about you is that you are able to bring out the honesty in me and hold me accountable for my actions and words with love and truth. I love that you never change and remain true to yourself and everyone else around you, regardless of our lives journeying on. It takes a strong, beautiful, and courageous friend to constantly stand by another, even when the steps we take are sometimes off course and the path unpredictable. I read a quote that said, “There is an inner beauty about a woman who believes in herself, who knows she is capable of anything she puts her mind to. There is a beauty in the strength and determination of a woman who follows her own path, who is not thrown off by obstacles along the way. There is a beauty about a woman whose confidence comes from experiences; who knows she can fall, pick herself up, and move on." When I think about the women I know who pour their whole hearts into the things that they do with passion, strength, and confidence, you are the first person who comes to my mind. You teach me the importance of believing in what I am capable of and going after what I desire and believe in, no matter what the outcome may be. I know that one day we’re going to have "grown up" lives- our own jobs, houses, and families- but that we will never fall out of the friendship that has been given to us. I promise to always be here for you to laugh with, cry on, and disclose your innermost secrets. I know that God has huge plans ahead for us, and I can’t wait to see how He keeps us together through His Story. I think that He knew exactly what he was doing when you were placed in the classroom across the hall from me in third grade... Though we haven’t known each other for all of the past twenty-one years, I can’t wait to spend the next twenty-one with you. I hope that one day down the road, I will be sitting next to you, making new bucket lists in our rocking chairs and talking about the old men in our lives. Maybe since we’re already like an old married couple now, we’ll be a young, rambunctious one in the future. To my best friend in the whole world- I love you and can’t wait to celebrate such an exciting milestone with you. Happy Birthday! Love always, Katie “You have not chosen one another, but [God] has chosen you for one another.” –C.S. Lewis

2: I believe that two people are connected at the heart. And it doesn't matter what you do, or who you are or where you live. There are no boundaries or barriers if two people are destined to be together. | There are just some people in life that make you laugh a little louder, smile a little bigger, and live a little better. | Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while deeply loving someone gives you courage. -Laozi

She had a sun tan line and red lipstick, I worked so hard for that first kiss, and a heart don't forget somethin' like that. -Tim McGraw | Two are better than one, because they have good return for their work. If one falls down, his friend can help him, but pity the man who has no one to help him! Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. -Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 | Anywhere you want to go, as long as it's sunny weather. 6: We did not change as we grew older, we just became more clearly ourselves. | "Love is needing someone. Love is putting up with someone's bad qualities because they somehow complete you." — Sarah Dessen | Surround yourself with the people you love being yourself around.

7: And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. And Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father's house. Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. 1 Samuel 18:1-3 [The Friendship of Jonathan and David] Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. John 15:13 | When you can feel someone else's pain and joy as if it's your own, that's when you know you really love them - Tina Lowell

9: When we consider the blessings of God—the gifts that add beauty and joy to our lives, that enable us to keep going through stretches of boredom and even suffering,—friendship is very near the top. -Donald W. McCullough | There’s a silent celebration for every breath you breathe. Now this all makes sense, with you as company; I left all I knew and found a better part of me... I need you, now and forever, just stay right here with me, don’t ever leave. -Dave Barnes | If there ever is a tomorrow when we're not together, there is something you must always remember- you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is even if we are apart, I'll always be with you. Winnie The Pooh

Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me. Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly. Birds fly over the rainbow- why, then oh why, can't I?

15: "The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
