FC: Mr. and Mrs. (soon-to-be) Mohns The First Two Years
It all began on July 4, 2009 at Schoolyard Bar and Grill. Thank you to TJ for introducing us, although we could have done without him during the late-night Zac Brown dance party. I was instantly intrigued by you and excited to get to know you better. The first few times that we hung out, I didn't want the night to end (and usually it didn't!). Fireworks from the start Benj......
Our first official date was dinner at Twist followed by 5th row seats at the Cubs game on July 27, 2009. Although we've since moved to the last seat in the house, the only thing that matters to me is sitting next to you.
Along the way, we've also attended Notre Dame football and basketball games, Brewers games, Packers and Wisconsin football games. You've officially converted me to support the Pack and I'm working on making you a passionate ND fan.
The Trip that "sealed the deal." I will never forget our February 2010 trip to Puerta Vallarta, Mexico. I think we were both nervous about our first weekend away together although obviously, we had nothing to worry about. I had so much fun with you exploring the city, eating fresh guacamole and watching you drink umbrella-filled drinks. It was incredibly relaxing, although we also enjoyed a little donkey riding, rapelling and ziplining adventure. My favorite two memories are the bottle of wine and sunset on the beach (and what followed) and the unforgettable dinner by the ocean at La Palapa. I can't think of a better place to say "I love you" for the first time. I went home from this trip knowing that I had found "the one."
Halloween 2009 and 2010 From a 200 lb. gorilla to a head-to-toe blue avatar, you always manage to impress with your Halloween costumes. Despite my complaints about storage space, I love that you love to dress up and aren't afraid to look ridiculous now and then.
Case in point: Susan's pirate birthday trolley. You definitely earned the best costume award, complete with the sack of gold coins. Too bad you didn't make it the whole night. :) Can't wait to attend many more theme parties with you in the future!!
St. Patrick's Day 2011: Wells on Wells to dance party in the mysterious basement at Stanley's. | 2010: An early start at Gaslight followed by a long night at Messner's. Living up to my 25% Irish heritage!
Door County- September 2010. From lunch at Al Johnsons with the goats to our white elephant game, I had a blast getting to know your friends better on this trip. However, I will continue to deny the "pool shark"incident.
Winter 2010: we managed to have some fun despite the terrible weather. Of note: Andy & AnneElise's wedding, cooking lessons at The Chopping Block and Coq au Vin and NYE at Brett & Kara's.
PARTY BUS!! You really know how to throw a party Benji. Despite dreading my 30th, you made it a night to remember (albeit vaguely). SO MUCH FUN!!
So far, you have experienced family vacations to St. Joe, graduations at ND, the Reeds Lake 5K and countless trips to GR. I love that we are both so close to our families and how easily you fit into mine. Needless to say, they think you are hilarious and are so happy to be welcoming you into our craziness. Looking forward to many more fun-filled holidays and vacations with everyone.
I have had so much fun getting to know your family and truly feel so lucky to be adding such warm, caring and generous in-laws to my family. Everyone has been so welcoming of me and I'm looking forward to trips up north, celebrating holidays with some "hot sex" and contributing to the grandchildren tally in the near future. :)
Welcome to Nashville!! | June 10-13, 2010: CMA Music Festival Concerts included Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Kid Rock and of course Zac Brown. I enjoyed redeeming our "floor seats" at Zac Brown with you (and not getting kicked out!).
Other highlights of the trip: breakfast at the Pancake Pantry, stealing chairs from the Marriott Lobby (you not me!), ridiculous photos at The Country Music Hall of Fame (see above) and an impromptu Sunday bar crawl. CMA Fest 2012 here we come.....
Our concert tour continued with Bon Jovi at Soldier Field on July 30. My date had a pretty hot mullet. I had a blast dressing up with you and hanging out with Joe and Beth in costume. Thanks for the awesome seats baby!! | Annie & Ben's Concert Tour 2010
Twenty days later, we headed to our other favorite band: Zac Brown at Charter One Pavilion. I loved our little picnic outside beforehand. You've got whatever it is Benji and I felt it on Day 1!!
Scottsdale, Arizona: February 12-14, 2011 (thank-you Harrison Street). | Thanks to your superior bargaining skills, we enjoyed a quick (and practially free) weekend in Scottsdale. It was awesome to get away somewhere warm and explore a new city. We had a great lunch at True Food Kitchen and a fantastic and booze-filled dinner at The Olive & the Ivy. Despite my complaints, I was glad we made it to the top of Camelback Mountain. You are a great motivator! Hopefully, we have many more of these trips in the near future (Hawaii??).
One of the happiest days of my life that still seems like a dream. You really pulled it off- every last detail was perfect.
After an amazing engagement night, we left the next day on our much-anticipated trip to Napa. Day 1 in San Francisco was quite eventful. Our first stop was The Ferry Building and the Hog Island Oyster Depot- not that we needed an aphrodisiac on this trip. :) Then on to explore Alcatraz and Fisherman's Wharf, followed by a scenic dinner at Waterbar overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge (I like bridges from afar).
First stop in Napa- Chimney Rock- 10 am = perfect time for some delicious Cabernet. | Outdoor patio area at Chimney Rock. | Stop #2: Stag's Leap and Sauvignon Blanc. | The weather was amazing: 80 and sunny in November.
Following our first two wineries, we had lunch at Mustards Grill. Then on to a tour and tasting at Cakebread Cellars and a beautful sunset at Joseph Phelps. After a full day of tasting, we headed to Calistoga Ranch, where we were greeted with complimentary wine and snacks at our private lodge (AMAZING!!).
On our second day in Napa, we got an early start at Silver Oak, followed by Plumpjack Winery and a terrace lunch at Auberge du Soleil. I think we both had a lot of fun telling people that we were engaged and competing in the "who can say fiance more?" game.
After lunch, we headed to Rubicon Estates for a tour of Francis Ford Coppola's winery and museum. With a little time to spare before our last tasting, we made an impromptu visit to Fleury and enjoyed the VIP (read: extremely generous) tastings. I can't wait to enjoy our bottle on our one-year anniversary! Sunday consisted of a leisurely drive to Alexander Valley and a treacherous ride back to San Fran on Highway 1. :) What an unbelievable trip...when can we go back???
The most expensive dinner ever!! I'm worth it though, right???
The second most expensive dinner. My goal is to take over the top ten spots! Kidding- I am honestly just as happy at home cooking dinner with you or at a BYO sushi place as I am at a super fancy restaurant.
Yes, I saved my coupons and yes, I plan to redeem them on the honeymoon and shortly after. Do you still have yours? Let's keep the romance alive baby......
This is from a note that you wrote me when you sent me flowers last year. You constantly continue to surprise me with your thoughtfulness and I hope you know how much I appreciate it from you.
August 26, 2011 Benji- can you believe that tomorrow is the big day??? This year has flown by and I can't even begin to describe how excited I am to make things "official" tomorrow. My life completely changed the day I met you. I love so many things about you- your quirky humor, your ability to make me laugh with your goofy faces and your scampering to bed, your generosity not only with me, but also with your friends and family, and your compassion for others. I love that I still get excited every single time that you walk in the door and especially, every time that we have a date night planned. Your hugs instantly make me feel better on a bad day and I will always trust you and come to you for advice before anyone else. I know we will have bumps along the way, but with faith and each other's support, we will get through anything. I'm looking forward to so many adventures with you, whether it's traveling to Europe, Australia or South America, building a family together or buying a house in the suburbs. You are going to make an absolutely amazing dad and I can't wait until we have our own litte mischievous Charlie torturing our angelic Maggie on family field trips. You are my sexy Ryan Reynolds/Jim Carrey look-alike, my partner in crime, my country concert groupie, my sous chef, my fellow wino, my reality tv companion and the love of my life. Let's have some more fun baby...... All my love, Annie
