17: History of the O'Sullivans The O'Sullivan's were of the Celtic Eoghanacht tribe descended from Eoghan (Owen) Mor and ruled over the rich lands of Knockgraffon between Cahir and Cashel in County Tipperary. Donal Mor O'Sullivan of Carrig Finn Maige, was the last O'Sullivan chief of Knockgraffen before they were driven out of Tipperary by the Normans in 1192. They then settled on the coast of Kerry opposite the island of Valentia, later dividing into two clans. The O'Sullivans Mor who settled in the barony of Dunkerron and the O'Sulilvans Beara who settled into the barony of Beara and Bantry. The O'Sullivan Moto "An Lámh Fhoisteanach Abú" which translates as "The Steady Hand to Victory".
