FC: Ye Old Journal
Our castle is coming to an end and I will go with it. If anyone finds this journal please read this and remember me as the man I am.
April 3, 1293 Hello, my name is Henry Thomson, and this is my journal. I have a wife and two kids. I am a normal soldier that lives in a castle in Italy, but today I went from a normal soldier to a reserve. Today we were sieged by a castle about twenty miles away from us. they attacked us because our castle is a large crop producer, and their castle is running low on food. I know these attackers won't give up until they have our crops in their hands.
April 4, 1293 It's day two of the siege, and many of our castle's men are fighting bravely. I am being held back for a back up wave of soldiers. I'm glad I'm not fighting because our attackers are very powerful and have good strategies. Also our attackers brought in ballistas, or large crossbows, that are firmly attached to the ground that are used to fire iron darts and sharp wooden poles. About ten minutes ago a stray ballista missile landed in our barracks and killed five of our men. When a siege starts with a ballista that mean more powerful and deadly weapons are to come.
April 5, 1293 It's a new day but nothing is new about the ongoing battle. For the past few days our defenses are being battered by the siege but they are holding up. Today our attackers brought in trebuchets and mangonels. Mangonels are catapults that fire projectiles from long distances, which is very effective on us right now. Trebuchets are catapults used to fire 200 pound rocks up to distances of 300 yards, which is also very effective on us right now. Our left wall was smashed and now we have ground troops fighting hand to hand. I feel me being deployed soon.
April 6, 1293 Today I was deployed, and I had to be deployed on the worst day ever. I miss my wife and kids. I hope they have fled. All seems hopeless right right now. The attackers have brought battering rams or huge towers used to smash or crush walls of a castle. Inside of the battering ram are ground troops that deploy when the wall is smashed. Behind the ground troops are archers to give the troops cover. Also the attackers have started launching severed body parts of our comrades at us to demoralize us.
April 7, 1293 Our castle now has disease spreading through it, and most civilians have either left or died. I still don't understand why we hid in our castle instead of attacking back. We have done the wrong thing, if we fought back we could have prevented a disease break out and our end. Like I said if anyone finds this journal remember me as Henry John Thomson, the man I am.
