FC: The Reformation!

2: The Reformation | The reformation was a time when Christianity split into different branches. The church was very powerful, and most of what they said, the people believed them. They taught that the church was always right. If you were to disagree with the church, you would be excommunicated. After a while of following the church, people started to realize that they might not know everything and they started doubting them.
3: The Calvinist Church | Calvinism originated in Geneva, Switzerland. The religion believed in a pure, simple life. They are called Puritans or Calvinists. They did not believe in gambling, swearing, or drinking. Calvinists believed in pre-destination and fore-knowledge. Pre-destination means that before you are born God desides whether you should go to heaven or hell. Fore-knowledge is when someone knows something before it is going to happen, like telling the future. Even though John Calvin was influenced by Luther stil
4: Problems in the Catholic Church The Catholic church was full of corruption. First thing that set Luther off was that they sold indulgences, or tickets, to heaven. This made time in th purgatory (place you go before heaven to work of sins) shorter.

7: Problem 1 -Discrimtion -Jews and Musims were not accepted. -Goal was to make all of Europe Catholic. | Problem 2 -Corruption -Inquistion -Trying to save people from going against the church. -People tortured until they gave in. | Problem 3 -Church spent money on own entertainment. -Found new ways to get money from people. -Church made priests pay for their job.

9: Indulgences Indulgences were sold to shorten the time in purgatory. They were basically tickets to heaven.
10: Response to Luther After Luther posted the 95 Theses, his ideas spread quickly. Other rulers and merchants were unhappy because everyone was going against the church. The rulers at the church weren't getting as much money anymore.
