S: Best Friends Forever

FC: Best Friends Forever | Alex and Ashley

Here's to thirty years of a wonderful friendship and thirty more to come! | Everyone has a "best friend" during each stage of life - only a precious few have the same one.

It all began in Cambridge, NY in the 1980's...

Lil' blondies: Jed, Ashley & Alex | "Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It’s not something you learn in school. But if you haven’t learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven’t learned anything". - Muhammad Ali

1st Communion | "Friends are the sunshine of life." - John Hay (1871) | "We'll be friends forever, won't we Pooh?" asked Piglet.

After 3rd grade, Alex moved to Greenwich... | And the friendship remained strong through letters and sleepovers! | Alex's mom delivers one of Ashley's hundreds of letters | I can't believe I found this! | Guess what came in the mail today!

Both girls loved the NY Mets, although Alex's allegiance changed for awhile when Ryne Sandberg became big... (handmade cards circa 1993)

"Promise you won't forget me, because if I thought you would, I'd never leave." -Winnie the Pooh | Cherish friendship in your breast - New is good but old is best Make new friends but keep the old Those are silver, these are gold. ` Joseph Parry

When you're the best of friends Having so much fun together You're not even aware, you're such a funny pair You're the best of friends - Disney's Fox & the Hound

If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, So that I'll never have to live without you" -Winnie the Pooh | "No love, no friendship, can cross the path of our destiny without leaving some mark on it forever." - Francois Mocuriac

And making up afterwards :-) | (Actually I don't think we ever fought) | Fightin' over who has the better best friend | Eventually, | we grew up...

Take Care of Yer Friends By Baxter Black Friend is a word that I don't throw around Though it's used and abused, I still like the sound. I save it for people who've done right by me And I know I can count on if ever need be. Some of my friends drive big limousines Own ranches and banks and visit with queens. And some of my friends are up to their neck In overdue notes and can't write a check. They're singers or ropers or writers of prose And others, God bless 'em, can't blow their own nose! I guess bein' friends don't have nothin' to do With talent or money or knowing who's who. It's a comfortable feelin' when you don't have to care 'Bout choosin' your words or bein' quite fair 'Cause friends will just listen and let go on by Those words you don't mean and not bat an eye. It makes a friend happy to see your success. They're proud of yer good side and forgive all the rest And that ain't so easy, all of the time Sometimes I get crazy and seem to go blind! Yer friends just might have to take you on home Or remind you sometimes that you're not alone. Or ever so gently pull you back to the ground When you think you can fly with no one around. A hug or a shake, whichever seems right Is the high point of givin', I'll tell ya tonight, All wordly riches and tributes of men Can't hold a candle to the worth of a friend.

My Next Thirty Years By Phil Vassar Performed by Tim McGraw I think I’ll take a moment, celebrate my age The ending of an era and the turning of a page Now it’s time to focus in on where I go from here Lord have mercy on my next thirty years Hey my next thirty years I’m gonna have some fun Try to forget about all the crazy things I’ve done Maybe now I’ve conquered all my adolescent fears And I’ll do it better in my next thirty years My next thirty years I’m gonna settle all the scores Cry a little less, laugh a little more Find a world of happiness without the hate and fear Figure out just what I’m doing here In my next thirty years Oh my next thirty years, I’m gonna watch my weight Eat a few more salads and not stay up so late Drink a little lemonade and not so many beers Maybe I’ll remember my next thirty years My next thirty years will be the best years of my life Raise a little family and hang out with my wife Spend precious moments with the ones that I hold dear Make up for lost time here, in my next thirty years In my next thirty years

We’ve shared a lot together; We’ve walked a common road. In many ways these moments form A special episode. I can’t foresee the future Or know how our lives will blend, But more and more I know that I Have found a lasting friend. It’s something rare to find someone Whose laugh inspires a smile, Who’s shared life’s joys and disappointments, Traced a common mile. But I can say with certainty That something from inside Keeps telling me I’m glad you’ve been Companion for the ride. -Bruce B. Wilmer | Best Friends | Forever
