FC: The Montello Family | Volume 21 July 2009 - December 2009
 The Montello Family | Volume 21 - July 2009 to December 2009
Take Us Out to the Ballgame! July 3, 2009 | A Cincinnati Reds game with the girls always means one thing - snacks! Popcorn, pretzels and cotton candy kept them happy as we watched the game. No one caught a fly ball this night, but we had fun just the same.
Crossing the bridge | My favorite Reds fans | The Montello Girls! | Downtown Cincinnati
New York in July! There's so much to do when we visit Grandma and Grandpa: ride in the convertible, swim in the pool, visit Strong Museum, listen to concerts in the park, and go to Lollipop Farm. We always love visiting Rochester!
Welcome Riley | Little Riley Montello surprised us all when he showed up early on July 22, 2009! Jaime, Dave and Alex were all happy to welcome him with open arms, and the girls were thrilled to have another cousin in the family.
This summer's visit to the eye doctor brought Sophia to a new phase of her life... eyeglasses! Mia suggested Sophia try on these black frames, which ended up being the winning pair. Sophia was very excited to get these glasses, and the sisters were jealous, hoping for glasses of their own! | New Glasses | 7/31/2009 Age: Almost 10
Meeting Scarlet August 1, 2009 | This time all five of us went to Cleveland so that everyone could meet Scarlet! Her cousins got a kick out of making her smile and taking her for walks in the stroller. I loved watching her take a bath!
Sophia is starting 5th grade with Mrs. Lipps. This will be her last year at Ft. Wright! | Cara has Ms. McCabe this year, and was chosen by the principal to be in a 1st/2nd grade split class. | Mia is headed back to preschool with Ms. Jo. Ms. Cindy & Ms. Jane at River Ridge! | August 19, 2009
What: Sophia's birthday party | Who: Julia Sager & Emma Childs | Why: Because Sophia is TEN! | Date: Aug. 22, 2009
Bluegrass Pool was closed for a swim meet, so Brandi and Kate and I took all of the kids over for a dip in the Beechwood Pool. Our dinner menu was pizza, and the pool was so empty, we nearly had it to ourselves. An excellent way to spend a summer evening with friends! | July 31, 2009
 This was a BIG birthday - Sophia turned 10 and Chris turned 40! | 10 and 40 | August 25, 2009
We celebrated with a family party, ice cream cake and presents. Popular gifts were shoes, books, and a t-shirt from Sam and Liz that I just adore.
Last Blast of Summer | Summer's nearly over and school has begun. We celebrated one last gorgeous summer day with a cookout for our neighbors and family, followed up with a concert at the band shell. The next night we hit Oktoberfest in Covington with the Bressers. | September 5, 2009
Race for the Cure September 12, 2009 | This was Sophia's first time at Race for the Cure. She was so happy to join us and walk in honor and celebration of her Ghee! We walked the 3K and enjoyed the snacks and samples that we collected before the race. Afterwards we watched the awards ceremony at Great American Ballpark.
Mismatch Day! | Sophia and Cara wore their most creative outfits for mismatch day at school! 10-27-2009
 Jack o' | LANTERNS
I think this might be the first year that the girls really did scoop out their pumpkins all on their own! Faces were drawn, seeds were removed, and even Roxy wanted to get involved. October 29, 2009 Ages: 10, 7 and 4
 FRIGHT NIGHT
*Halloween 2009* We had one zombie, one lady bug, and one kid who said she wanted to be "that guy with the big fork". A chef, I wondered? No! She described this guy as red, with horns... it didn't take long for us to realize she meant the devil. Since I already had my angel costume picked out, the devil costume was just perfect for her.
November 7, 2009 | A quick visit with the cutest niece in the world! Scarlet, 6 months old
Sophia came home from school one day and said, "I made Honor Choir!" This was the first time we'd ever heard of Honor Choir; we didn't even know she had tried out! Sophia practiced after school for weeks with four other girls from Ft. Wright Elementary. The result of their hard work was the Northern Kentucky Honor Choir concert. Papa and Ghee joined us to hear Sophia sing! It was a night we'll always remember. | November 13, 2009
Scarlet was a welcome addition to the Thanksgiving table at Papa Ghee's this year! Cara and Mia liked playing with their cousin, while Sophia's favorite part was reading books with Uncle Dan. | 11/26/2009
We took a trip to NY for a pre-Christmas visit. The hightlights were Tom and Sue's party - complete with a visit from Santa! - and opening presents with Grandma and Grandpa. The girls enjoyed playing the piano and playing in the snow. | 12/20/2009 | Christmas in New York
Christmas Eve 2009 | Christmas Eve dinner always means silly paper hats, yummy cookies, reindeer food, family and fun.
Our Christmas day began at 7:00 am with the traditional opening of stockings. No taking turns here; it's a free-for-all! | Christmas Stockings | 12/25/09
 Christmas Day 2009
After stockings, we headed to the Christmas tree to see what Santa had left for us. He was very generous this year! He left DS games and an iPod for Cara, a lava lamp and sparkly sneakers for Mia, and a Nintendo DSi for Sophia. Once all the gifts were opened, we sat down for a traditional breakfast of cinnamon rolls. After breakfast, it was time to get dressed and head to Papa Ghee's house!
This Christmas at Papa Ghee's was especially fun, since Uncle Dan, Aunt Lindsey and Scarlet were with us! We opened our stocking gifts and auxillary stocking bags, and then took a break before opening gifts under the tree. We loved all of our presents, but mostly just loved being together as a family. 12/25/2009
