S: Memories from 2011
FC: "Family is the link to our past and the bridge to our future."
Lord, Grant us patience to deal with our blessings. | 2011
 Macey's 1st Time Ice Skating
Celebrating Drew's 4th Birthday in Wisconsin Dells
Enjoying Northside's Rollerskating Party with "The Triplets"
Diggin' Our Way out of the Blizzard
Packer Parties & Super Bowl Win at the Cassidy's
 Fun with the Fish Girls
Interesting day. . . We started St. Patty's weekend with a 5K in the morning, followed by a trip to Madison for the Walker rally all afternoon, then came back to Monroe for the pub crawl most of the evening. It seemed like a good idea at the time!
We started our Florida vacation in Tampa with Todd and his family. Macey and Drew loved their 1st trip to Busch Gardens.!
Then we headed to Sarasota for a couple gorgeous days hanging out with Grandma & Grandpa at their favorite beaches.
The sand at Siesta Key was the softest we've ever felt! After a full day in the sun with 110 SPF, we decided to end our time there by cooling off at the Siesta Key Oyster Bar. Although I've never enjoyed raw oysters before, these were really delicious!
 Final Stop ~ Sea World
First Signs of Spring . . . Easter Eggs
Macey's Very First Research Report 1st Grade with Mrs. K-D
Instead of participating in "Love Madison" with the Blackhawk congregation, we decided to show some love and appreciation in our own community for the local volunteer fire department. We baked lots of yummy treats and made them each a thank-you card. | When we delivered our tokens of appreciation, we were the ones in for a huge surprise; Ron Blumer gave us a full tour of the station, including climbing in the trucks and testing some of the equipment. He topped it off by getting in his gear so the kids could see that scary-looking firefighters are just normal people.
Fellow Blackhawk members, red-heads and Monticello residents; Kevin, Denise, Anyka and Tait Swanson
A Fun Dinner at Pancho & Lefty's with Great Friends and Awesome Food
May was a month of firsts for Drew!
Kicking-Off Summer with the Millers at Cadiz Springs
To celebrate Macey's terrific year in 1st grade, we went to the Taylor Swift concert in Milwaukee the day summer vacation started.
While we were enjoying the awesome concert, a terrible storm was blowing through Monticello and the boys spent much of the evening in the basement. In the end, we were without power for 25 hours, but only 4 deck boards were damaged and the kids loved playing in "the crazy jungle" before Brad fired-up the chainsaw.
This is the second year I have helped chaperone the Washington DC trip, but this time I was lucky enough to get Heather as my roommate, so I had even more fun!
Vietnam War Memorial | White House | JFK's Grave | Arlington Cemetery | A Student's T-shirt | A Rainbow out Our Hotel Window | Dave & Buster's | Air Force Memorial | Iwo Jima | Ford's Theater (where Lincoln was shot) | The Potomac River | The Wharf on Washington's Estate | Gettysburg | The Bus Ride Home | FDR Memorial | Our group at the US Capitol

Here's the Gift We Made for Daddy
During the Star Spangled Celebration weekend, we ride Harley all day and go to the concerts at night.
Macey and Drew took full advantage of the chance to ride the Gator that was left at Grandpa and Grandma's house during their landscaping project!
Mace had definitely outgrown her little princess bike, so after Brad lost a bet to her that she wouldn't dive off the board, this was her reward!
Spending a day at the Middleton Aquatic Center with Jane, an old friend and colleague from my days at the DOT.
Keokuk has so many things we love . . . 1) Visiting Relatives 2) Boating on the Big Miss' 3) Eating Yummy Food 4) Watching Fireworks 5) Playing Cards 6) Swimming
Macey & Drew really enjoy playing with Faith & Dalton. Here we went over to see the progress on their new house, get go-cart rides and jump on the trampoline.
Drew didn't like watching his sister ride her new "big-kid bike" while he was still using training-wheels. Just a couple weeks after Macey got her new bike, he asked me to take his training wheels off his little Mongoose. In less than a minute and on his very first try, Drew was riding all by himself down the sidewalk. I think all the neighbors were just as proud as he was!
 Another Fun Monticello Homecoming
You might have grown up in Monticello during the 80's if you remember . . . 1) Going to the sales barn on Monday nights and the arcade during breaks from the pool 2) Santa making an appearance after our Christmas concerts with a bag full of yummy treats 3) Hokie's Place, Village Tap & Zipper's 4) When the pool used to be next to the police station and it flooded all summer long with dirty river water 5) Goebli's Gas Station and gas under 99 cents a gallon 6) Going to Rose Wittenwyler's house first during trick-or treating because you knew she made the best popcorn balls 7) Candy cigarettes from Woelffer's Drugstore 8) Decorating our hallways during Homecoming Week to try earning the coveted Spirit Stick 9) Playing "behind the wall" during recess 10) The alphabet people in kindergarten *Unfortunately, these pictures are not from the 80's
Whitewater Rafting on the Menominee River
Rhinelander This year's annual trek north was very fun as usual.! Besides whitewater rafting for the first time, we also went on our first geocaching expedition. and even found a "travel bug." No trip to Hodag Country would be complete without a visit to the farmer's market and Fogerty's cottage on Pine Lake, rides on the 4-wheeler, and time spent playing with Traeton and Kailyn.. We are incredibly blessed to have such great friends!
The kids love playing at Grandpa & Grandma Freitag's each summer, especially when relatives from North Carolina or Florida come to visit. This background is even one of the beautiful roses that grow near the pool every year.
Analiese & Macey showing off their new manicures:) | There were lots of hugs and kisses to go around on our last night together. | Matching Jammies for the Girls; Priceless | Matching Jammies for the Girls; Priceless
This year we decided to try out a new campground with the Fish Family - Indian Trails near Pardeeville was a blast!
To show Drew how proud we were of his hard work learning to swim, we arranged a chopper ride with Dan Bauman on the day of his last lesson. One hour in the field being Dan's "right- hand man" was definitely a highlight of Drew's summer!
Our new family sport . . . Geocaching! A "treasure-hunt" of sorts using a GPS device to locate a "cache" hidden by someone. Our username is FreiGuys. | The cache in Montesian Gardens | These last 2 were found in Pleasant View Park. The kids enjoyed the one | hidden in the tree, but the tank cache was too tricky.
A Short Play-Date with Tonia and Her Boys - Landon (3) and Callen (1)
Getting Ready for Our 1st Day of School | Drew - 4K at Abe Lincoln; Macey - 2nd Grade at Northside; Mom - 11th year at MMS
The Day Jack Sold His Last 10 Tractors | I don't know how John and Jeri felt about it, but Macey and Drew were so sad to see the tractors go! Drew couldn't stop watching, and Macey sat in the garage at home and cried. | Now that's a good wife; letting her hubby win the final race. (They weren't really racing - but it made for a cute picture!)
There's no question who Drew's best friend in Monticello is . . . "Jack" John Wendler, even with 65 years between them, is the first person Drew wants to see everyday when he gets home. On a daily basis we hear, "Can I ride my bike down to Jack's?" or "I want to wear work-pants like Jack does. I don't care if I get hot!" or "I need to go watch Jack mow." Luckily for us, Jack seems to like Drew just as much!
Grandpa and Grandma Holcomb's first time at Miller Park and first Brewer Game in more than 20 years!
There aren't too many things our kids enjoy more than swimming with one of their uncles!
Polishing-off the trip to Milwaukee for Grandpa's birthday with a visit to the zoo.
While Mom, Dad and Woody took the kids to Milwaukee, we took a little weekend trip of our own to Sauk City, Baraboo and the Dells area.
Hiking at Devil's Lake State Park
It's hard getting the kids to not act goofy when Uncle Tyler is in town, but we finally got a serious picture out of them. Turns out the silly ones were cuter anyways!
While Brad & Ty went to the biggest Badger game in Camp Randall history, we visited the animals around the Square one last time before they left for the winter.
Lovin' Little Amerricka with Nolan & Pawel
So begins our first Monroe Middle School Card Club
Kade Paulson & Jace Daughenbaugh have been Drew's best friends since the 1st day of school. This is Kade's 5th birthday party where they all dressed up like police officers and played hilarious games connected to the profession. | The 3 Muskateers of 4K: Drew, Kade & Jace
For the first time in three years, Macey had a poodle skirt for the annual North-side Sock Hop! (Thanks Grandma Holcomb)
 Time for Making Jack-O-Lanterns
We had a really fun trip to Rick & Bobbi's beautiful new home near Birchwood. With the incredible stone fireplaces and claw-foot bathtub complete with massaging jets, we felt like we were at a relaxing resort. Our visit was topped off with Bobbi's delicious home-cooked meals, fishing with Uncle Rick, rough-housing with Kevin & Eric, sleeping in, bow-hunting, 4-wheeler rides, and spectacular views!
