S: Hebert Family Vacation San Diego, CA June 2011
Cruz loved the Archer's backyard in Chula Vista. We played outside in the amazing weather every day. He used a plastic wine glass so he could toast us, or"'cheers' us, as he called it. | This was dinner on the night we arrived. Lisa was in HEAVEN! Some of the best lobster ever, and it was caught fresh that morning. The Archers are incredible hosts!
On Saturday, our first full day in town, we went to Balboa Park.
We also visited the Botanical Gardens at Balboa. The flowers and plants were really different than what we see in Alabama. | Maureen's acting class had a show at the park. All the kids did skits. Maureen was definitely one of the best in the class. Quite a performance BRAVO!
Cruz forgot to bring his bear to California. So Maureen loaned him one of hers. He took it with us just about everywhere, until he switched to the dog (which he brought home). | Cruz got some quality "Aunt Tina" time. FUN!
There were huge concrete ponds at Balboa Park with all different kinds of lily pad gardens. It was beautiful.
There were koi of all colors hanging out in the lily pads. This one was albino...so cool! | Its hard to tell in these pictures, but the fish were about 18 inches long and so close we could almost touch them. Cruz really wanted to!
Family pose in front of the Botanical Gardens. Can't get Cruz to look at the camera, he's too busy looking at the fish. | FINALLY! That's a keeper!
The trees were awesome! They looked thousands of years old. Its hard to get an idea of how HUGE they are in a picture.
We tried to give the trees some scale. The roots were higher than my head!
The cousins: Gil, Tina and Scott | More Heberts! Scott, Jeanne and Grace came down to visit from Newport Beach. FUN TIMES! | Momodo self portrait
Trying to keep "rent -a-party" in line... Lisa: "No, no, I don't think that's a good idea! Well OK, I'll pose before I save Tina." | All is well, no one got injured
Coronado Beach | Such a beautiful place and a perfect day! | Hotel Del Coronado, or 'The Del' was built in 1888 and is supposedly haunted. It was the backdrop for the movie 'Some Like It Hot'."
Daddy bought him a shovel and he decided to bury all of us, well, at least our feet | An expert sand castle builder was making a masterpiece on Coronado Beach... | So Cruz got an idea...
The water was a little chilly | Pizza on the beach, then water time!
The birthplace of California. We loved the shopping and lunch, complete with a mariachi band. | Old Town
Even though outlet shopping is not his "thing", Cruz was a trooper. | He withstood hours of waiting as Mommy did some damage as the Las Americas Outlet on San Ysidro Blvd, right next door to the Mexican border
Cruz's favorite part of the trip... LEGOLAND! | Yes, that intricate design is all made of legos...there was even a lego car actually driving down the road | What every kid needs for a day at the park in the sun... the perfect hat
Can you believe it? Legoland had a special Star Wars area. These elaborate designs were so impressive | Look but don't touch!
Life size R2-D2 and Chewbacca all made of legos! | COOL
Yes, there is video of Cruz & Lisa on stage dancing to "Walk Like an Egyptian. It is NOT pretty | A thankful Cruz | "Long line" boredom sets in
From ice Cream to roller coasters...Cruz loved it all Look at that face!
This might have been Cruz's favorite part of Legoland... the face painting. He chose his favorite Star Wars bad guy, Darth Maul
Good-bye Legoland, we had a BLAST!
La Jolla We LOVED it! Now one of Lisa's favorite places | Just a beautiful area and the seals at the Children's Pool were really cool | The best shot from the trip. My sweet baby boy
The seals were amazingly unaffected by our presence... and we were really close
Picture of Gil taking a picture of Cruz and Lisa
 Say Rufus!
George's At the Cove Ocean Terrace Some of the best ceviche we've had | Cruz giving daddy some lovin'
Good food + good company = GREAT TIME!
Its our 6th anniversary,so as a special gift, Gil shaves off the goatee and goes fresh faced. But why not have a little fun with facial hair art first? | HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
After a delicious dinner at 'Oceanaire', we bar hopped through the Gaslamp District | The handsome hubby | Poor attempt at a self portrait
 Cruz goofing off
Future site of Mater Dei Catholic Church in Chula Vista | During church, Father Jovencio “Ven” Ricafort blessed our marriage for our 6th anniversary
The view was amazing. We watched the Padres play at Petco Field, we could see Point Loma and even Mexico!
Gil making international friends. This couple was from Switzerland, he spoke English, she only spoke German. But neither got Gil's jokes :-) | Our last night out started with drinks on the terrace at Jsix Bar at Hotel Solemar in the Gaslamp District | Then on to the Marriot Altitude Bar not too far away.
Chillin' at the Archer Abode | Cruz documenting our airport wait for the return home. Gil stayed an extra day because of a business trip, so this journey we'll be doing duo.
Good-bye San Diego, We will be back!
