S: Tour de France 2010
On July 17, 2010 we flew from Cincinnati to Toulouse to follow the final week of the Tour de France.....
After meeting our Custom Getaways tour group at the airport, we boarded our bus and headed out to the find the tour on the way to our hotel in Oloron St. Marie
This was our first glimpse at the Tour. There was a breakway and the motorcycle that notifies the break of the time gap stopped right where we were watching
Andy Schleck was in the yellow jersey, however, while on a climb later in the day he dropped his chain and Alberto Contador passed him and would end the day in yellow.
After watching the Tour we headed to our hotel where we stayed for four nights.
July 20, 2010 We watched the Tour from the finish in Pau and had access to a VIP area 50 yards from the finish line
While we waited for the race we walked around Pau
We walked through the media area and checked out all the team buses.
We stopped at the Versus truck where Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen were broadcasting and then we met Craig Hummer and Bob Roll!!
We tried to catch a glimpse of Lance Armstrong after the finish but he was surrounded, so we sought out George Hincapie instead
Team Cofidis was staying at our hotel so we got to see a little of what happens once the stage is over
July 21, 2010 Tour Rest Day We headed to Biarritz on the ocean and then to St. Jean Pied de Port near the Spanish border
 St. Jean Pied de Port
July 22, 2010 We had a catered viewing area about 6k up the Tourmalet so we hiked, in the pouring rain, up to our location. Luckily it only rained for a little while.
We met Captain America and Captain Margarita
July 23, 2010 We had VIP access to the Start Village where all the tour sponsors have booths and hand out freebies, but we bypassed that area to wait in the lot where all the team buses parked to try and meet Lance Armstrong
We got Lance Armstrong's autograph on his book Comeback 2.0 and autographs from 4 other Radioshack riders on a Radioshack jersey
After we left the Start Village we headed back to the hotel and then out to dinner in the nearby town of Lacanau on the ocean
July 24, 2010 Today's stage was an individual time trial and we had a private viewing area at this chateau in Bordeaux
July 25, 2010 Our last day....we took the TGV bullet train from Bordeaux to Paris, checked into our hotel and then headed out to the grandstands to watch the final stage
Alberto Contador won the Tour de France, Andy Schleck finished 2nd and Denis Menchov finished 3rd
Radioshack was the best overall team
After the final stage all the Custom Getaways tour groups had a dinner cruise down the Seine and we got to see all the sights of Paris
