BC: Happy | Times...
FC: of summer 2011
Every year the end of school brings joy to the hearts of each child, and this year was no exception! Also with the end of school comes a School Picnic... And this year the weather was absolutely perfect! It wasn't hot, and there wasn't a wind to speak of either. When we first got there, a ball game was getting in session. | It was a very interesting game... the captains were Kelsey and Krista. :) Bruce grilled some excellent chicken and everyone brought salads and desserts... very scrumptious! Then the school children sang some songs and recited our "States and Presidents", basically a mini program.
After we were done with that, out came the balloons! Actually up went the balloons... after we tied our name and letter on. Even Patrick got to send one off, and he is the only one that got one back. It went all the way to Iowa!
 Up, up, and...
That was May 16. The next Thursday happened to be my sixteenth birthday, the one that seems to make you older and wiser than a fifteen year old. :) I had to work on my birthday, but thanks to "Some Kind Soul", it was made all better by some ice cream from Culver's. Bruce's, Seth's, and Ryon's came over for a normal Thursday night supper. The next Monday evening I invited the youth and Bruce's and Rachel over for a "Kite-Flying Party" up on top of the hill. It ended up being a "Drag-The-Kite-Around-On-The-Ground Party" but I still had fun. I hope everyone else did too. We had to resort to other more "mature" forms of entertainment, like Yard Blitz for the girls and Bocce for the guys. They worked down the trail and played around in the yard and then worked their way back up... and by that time it was time for supper. We had kabobs--meat, potatoes, bread, fruit, etc. so each person made their own and grilled it. S'mores were for dessert. Then we just relaxed around the fire for the rest of the evening.
Hey, someone was successful! | Me | I believe Brooklyn had control of this kite.
Yard Blitz | Supper | I made a kabob of all chicken and someone kindly offered to grill it for me... when I got it back he had eaten every piece but two! :) | The Fire | We had the perfect amount of girls for yard Blitz, plus Brook and Krista to oversee! | Campfires are always so cozy... you can whisper to someone or even scratch your back without being noticed! :) | Shirl & Janet
Something just wore this person out! Poor person, I bet she's never gonna come back for a party again! | Paula
Life brings simple pleasures to us every day. It is up to us to make them wonderful memories. CathyAllen | We have some great scenery around our place!
The fellowship meetings were so much fun this year! All of my good friends were there. Ramona, Amy, Andrea, Diana, Lori, Lisa, Stacy, Kendra, Jessica, Janna, Corine, Stacey, Valerie, Gina, Sarah, etc. etc. etc. It was a blast!
Then a week later I went east to find my newest nephew! He is so cute and such a sweetheart! He looks just like his siblings... when I was there I think I saw all four of them in him one time or another! | Joseph William | Joseph William
We took Krista and Darren out with us... The children loved having WI cousins there! | Pretending to sleep | At Terre Hill park | Davy has always loved Krista... And vice versa
The four generation picture didn't exactly turn out. Someone screams while another tries to comfort him. Another is proud of his offspring while yet another seems not to be so much... :) | Uncle Larry's brought Grandma to Tom's so they stayed and visited for a while.
Random | Davy wanted to read out of my Bible, so we started with Genesis 1! | Davy is definitely everyone's little buddy! He laughs easily and warms right up to people. One time he was so tired he fell asleep right in the doorway! | The children love to go on walks and this is one of their favorite ways --ride while someone else walks! | kid shots...
They all absolutely love their little brother... They're such good little "moms", especially when they rock him in their adorable little rocker! | Davy placed these cars on Joey while his mom was trying to do a photo shoot!:)
Father's Day | Don't know what is up with this... but it sure looks hilarious!
One day we went to the petting zoo! I love that place--the cow that sticks out its ugly tongue to grab the piece of bread, the heehawing donkey, the goats, the ducks and geese that show who's boss, the bridges, the pond... Everything! :) | You can walk on this cool pathway the whole way around the pond. Davy and I are on the opposite side from the petting zoo. Timmy is feeding the ducks on the petting zoo side.
Baby will grow up. | Too fast.
I miss Joey... | I miss Rachel... | I miss all of them!
The youth rally was held at Kirksville this year. After we played some stellar games of volleyball, we went to Hazel Creek Lake for supper and a devotional. I had no idea Missouri had such beautiful scenery! | 8.13.11
 Happy times.
We have a picnic at Copeland park and watch the boats in the fishing tournament. | When its just us... | We tour the International Gardens and laugh at the silly sand sculptures. | We go boating and ride circles around the LaCrosse Queen, go under the train, and admire the two beautiful bridges.
Finally the time had come for us and Dar to leave for Michigan. Since we thot we had lots of extra time, we stopped at a quaint town in hopes of finding a cafe to eat at. We were successful only after driving all over the place! | Mary, the manager of the cafe, gave Russ a cookie because she said with tears in her eyes that her heart goes out to people like that. Besides having a big heart, she can make some stunning sandwiches as well! | Aug. 16
Russ absolutely loved Helen's 6 kittens! I spent a lot of my time taking a walk with Helen or Carla, and of course taking pictures of the kitties!
Meanwhile, the Aunties went through Grandpa's house, cleaning it and sorting stuff out for the garage sale. Of course, they always take time to sit with coffee and laugh at longlost memories... :) | The cabin where I slept with Helen and played many games of Life
Beautiful | Lake Michigan | Spectacular | The picture of me was to scare Mom. She drempt I backed off the pier so I had to prove I could stay on! | Majestic | Awesome | Inspiring
Blowing it up | Chase vehicle | Megan's on the chase | Folding it back up | Nearly inflated | Hot | Air Balloon | On Fiday we left Michigan for Indiana where Dar was planning to go up in Ed and Marita's balloon! It was very awesome to watch them get it set up and then to chase it and pack it back up again!
The dear nieces came to visit us while we were in the area! :) | Vi hosted us with a "Coffee and Chat", which is what Kay really came for! | Some of my relatives came that I hadn't met before, and of course some that I did know. This was our last stop on our last vacation of the summer. We were headed home. | Mom had always wanted to attend Vi's Coffee and Chat... She got her chance and loved it!
SOFTBALL | To welcome me home (well, not really) someone planned a ball game! As normal, after the adults were done, the kids got involved. Of course they need some experts in the field. Some are happy to oblige, while others merely take pictures! Afterwards when we went out to eat Rhoda found an orange in the parking lot so we played pitch and catch with it! :)
Time to clean the church! | This can mean only one thing: school is just around the corner...
The youth went camping on Sunday and Monday... It was a blast! Despite all bears and raccoons! :) | Noticed during devotions... | Hanging out around the fire | On Monday some of us went on a hike up to the top of one of the bluffs. From there we left for home. | I took myself a little lonely bike ride and this is what I found! | 8.28.11 | So how many guys does it take to light a fire?
It's a sure sign of fall when you can make salsa out of your own garden, and there's fresh apple sauce, oh, and when the scarecrows show up! :)
I have warm memories of summer... | It was good while it lasted...
