S: Our Family Adventure to Alaska

FC: Our Family Adventure to Alaska | July 2011

1: Our first day in Seattle, we took a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island and had lunch at Cafe Nola. | Our Alaskan adventure began with a pre-cruise trip to Seattle. We left home on Saturday July 9, 2011 and got to Seattle late in the afternoon. After riding the train from the airport into the city, we had dinner at Wild Ginger and walked around the city a bit....

2: They were carving a Totem pole memorial to commemorate the artist that was killed crossing a Seattle street with his carving knife and was killed by Seattle police who mistook him for a criminal because he had a knife. | A fun light fixture at the Pike Street Market | The Plotkins and Krasnes came to Seattle today!

3: Enjoying the delicious food and the sights at the Pike Street Market! | Enjoying Beechers Mac and Cheese....YUM! | We loved the little donettes as well! | Everyone must grab a spoon and try this amazing Mac and Cheese! | Just taking it all in! | Lets taste some jerky, some jams and anything else we can find! | Enjoying the rubiks cube street performer.

4: Dinner on Sunday with everyone at Purple. | Boeing Factory | Lunch after the Boeing tour at Anthonys Beach Cafe

5: On Monday, July 11, we rented a 15 Passenger van and went to the Boeing Airplane Factory and to see the Salmon Locks.

6: More of our day with the van...... | More pictures at the Salmon Locks and then our adventure continued.... | Today was 7-11-11, a national holiday in 7-Eleven's world! We stopped in a Seattle 7-Eleven for our free 7.11 oz. Slurpees!

7: We took the Monorail to the Seattle City Center to see the Space Needle and have dinner at Citizen Crepery.

8: One last morning at the Pike Street Market before boarding the ship | This is the original Starbucks! | Tuesday July 12, 2011

9: The excitement builds as we arrive at the port to board the Carnival Spirit!

10: And off we go....bye bye Seattle, hello Alaska! | Our waiter the first night made fun things from the napkins | View from Mom and Dad's balcony | Exploring the ship.....

11: First day at sea..... Trivia Contests and, of course... EATING! | Our First Day was at sea Wednesday July 13, 2011

12: Always fun to celebrate special occasions with a game show.... Mom and Dad turn 75 and this calls for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire! | Our first day at sea continues...

13: Special Celebration dinner at the Steakhouse on the ship...DELICIOUS!

14: Cruising thru the Endicott Arm Thursday July 14, 2011

15: What an amazing day! We got up very early to whale watch and then headed toward the Tracy Arm Fjords. The weather wasn't cooperating, so we took a different route and discovered the Endicott Arm and it was spectacular! We were able to get very close to this glacier!

16: Salmon Fishing | Skagway Friday July 15, 2011

17: Our first port was Skagway. The day started off with a salmon fishing expedition by some and shopping by others as well as a beautiful hike for some that ended up being further than anticipated. | We opted to eat dinner in Skagway. since we were there until 9 pm.

19: Late afternoon in Skagway, all 17 of us boarded three helicopters and landed on the Mead Glacier. We were outfitted with special boots, vests, and poles. It was the neatest experiences to get to walk on a glacier and actually see how the water is constantly moving and creating holes. We loved this adventure! | More fun in Skagway...

20: Juneau Saturday July 16, 2011

21: In Juneau, we split into two groups. Some of us went on a private van tour of Juneau, seeing the Mendenhall Glacier and the Salmon Hatchery, while the others canoed to the glacier.

24: Ketchikan Sunday July 17, 2011

25: In Ketchikan, we went on the Aleutian Ballad Crabbing Boat. Our guides actually worked on the Deadliest Catch Boats. It was lots of fun and we heard many fun stories and got to see all types of crabs get pulled in.

26: Last Day at Sea Monday July 18, 2011 | Miniature Golf | Winning the last sports trivia game. Prize was a ship on a stick! | Mom and Dad were contestants on the Love Connection game since they were the couple in the audience married the longest. It was SO funny! They won a ship on a stick AND some champagne!

27: On our last night, we had a brief stop in Victoria. We walked around the harbor area and had dinner, before getting back on the ship for our short sail back to Seattle.

28: Fun on the ship! | Tour of the kitchen | Hanging out in Mom and Dad's Suite | and...Lots of laughs! | Fun in the Dining Room

29: There were fun surprises in our cabins every night! Thanks Mom and Dad for an amazing trip!
