S: West Family Fun 2011
FC: West Family Fun--2011
We had a blast this year! | Read on to see our year... | Crater Lake | Las Vegas | Civil War Reenactment
We had an excellent start to 2011. Everyone came over to our house and we played Bunco, Rock Band, and visited all night long. When the gong struck midnight, we watched the firework show, popped confetti, and toasted in the new year with champagne and kisses. Happy New Year!!! | 2011 begins | Happy New Year!!!!
 Glad family came over to celebrate the beginning of 2011! | 2011 2011 2011 2011 2011
Trina and I went to a Don Johnston workshop in Chicago in January. One night we all went to a cooking school dinner with Don and his staff. No pictures of me, but I got some of Trina making chicken. Don is one of the most inspiring people I know. | of Chicago
Raegan and Scott went on their annual Daddy Daughter Date Night in February. Scott has taken her to the Auburn Community Center for the past several years. This was her last year there, so next year he will have to think of something new. Jared and I went out for dinner at a Thai restaurant this year. The roses were from Scott for Valentine's day (including the diamond earrings and gift cards while we were at Stanley and Seaforts for dinner). | Tia joined our family this year. She's another blind dog that looks just like Moose. We all love her. | Daddy Daughter Date Night
In March, we went to La Conner to shop for art for our redecorated living room. It was a beautiful day, and the kids got to experience glass blowing. Jared made a bowl, and Raegan made a ball. We found a great shop and bought several striking pieces for the walls.
For Spring Break, we took the kids to Las Vegas for the first time, and they loved it!! We saw Phantom of the Opera and Ka (both amazing), wandered through all of the casinos, and soaked in the sparkle of the lights. The aquarium, Titanic, and CSI exhibits were awesome. We stayed at the Luxor, ate dinner at Lupo's, and just had a ton of fun in the sun. An excellent time!! | Las Vegas
More Vegas memories. The kids loved it so much, they keep hoping to go back next year. It was sure nice to feel the warm sun in the spring.
Dance, Dance, Dance | We had a huge dance season this year. Several tap competitions, dance conventions, and performances. We enjoyed every minute of it, and look forward to next year.
Scott's became a history buff this year so when he saw this civil war reenactment happening at Fort Steilacoom, we just had to go. He was so excited to get his picture taken with President Lincoln, and Raegan had fun learning how to loom and hold a musket. Jared enjoyed looking at the old guns, and we all thought the reenactment was amazingly well done. | Civil War Reenactment
 Scott looks pretty happy!!!
Scott and I went on a few quick and impromptu trips this year. We went over highway 20 and stopped in Winthrop (best ice cream!) and Leavenworth. We almost had to sleep in the car because all of the hotels in Wenatchee were booked. We finally found a little run down hotel that at least had a clean bed. We also drove one evening to Mount Rainier to watch the sun set. Great adventures! | Adventures!!!
The kids love going to camp and this year they had a blast! | Camp Goodtimes fun!
In July, we saw Katie and Chuck get married, and went to John's house for the fireworks over the Sound. Both were beautiful events! | July Fun Patriotic Love July | LOVE | LOVE
 1. Band Camp 2. Hanging in the sun with Oreo and Tia 3. Making peanut butter ice cream in our new ice cream maker 4. A day at the horse races visiting with the reptile guy | Miscellaneous Activities
We spent a day with Raegan in Seattle and went to the Seattle Aquarium | Future marine biologist
Raegan and I spent a wonderful weekend in Eugene visiting with Grandad and the dogs (he has a doggy daycare business in his house right now) and spending a day with Ian, Myra, and AJ (friends from school who moved to Eugene). Scott and Jared couldn't come on this trip and we missed having them along. | Family and Friends
We spent a beautiful weekend at Longbeach looking at the sand castles (the annual contest just finished), walking the boardwalk, playing in the water, and watching the sunset. Watching the sunset is very special to me because it was one of my mom's favorite pastimes. I always take a ton of pictures, and my poor family waits in the cold while I patiently wait for the sun to dip behind the horizon and say a few words to Mom. I appreciate that my family understands how meaningful the sunset is to me.
We found a place that served monster ice cream cones after playing in the water all day. Raegan also got to ride a horse on the beach, while Jared, Scott and I rode some go-carts.
Every August, I think about taking the kids to watch the Blue Angels fly, but never seem to remember early enough to make it happen. Well, this year, I did! We even got to walk out onto a closed 520 bridge and sit in the middle of the bridge to watch the | show. Surprisingly (or not) it was | quite chilly, but we still had | a great time together.
Summer time fun | Sun Goddess!!!!! | Scott's first soufflé was so yummy! | Raegan has been begging me for a few years to teach her how to sew, so this summer we finally made a sundress together. It was super cute. | Scott had a great summer of cooking. For Father's day, he got a pasta roller and Jared loved rolling out the dough. We made great ravioli.
Wild Waves Fun | We spent every minute possible at Wild Waves this summer swimming with friends and family. The weather was fickle, but we all got a little tan. | While we were at the Renaissance fair, Jared spent his time boffering while Raegan and Emily wandered around watching the shows. The horse show is always the best.
Jared started his junior year and Raegan her 5th in 2011. They both had a busy year both in and out of school. Jared loved his Digipen classes at school, and we enjoyed watching him run in his cross country meets. Raegan really got into her science research for her classroom projects, and started playing the flute in 5th grade band. | Time for School
Raegan performed her last dance with Action Dance at the fair this year, then the girls went and partied the night away. We also met Mango and Dango on their incredible umbrella bicycle. We were lucky to see one of their only shows at the fair. They were amazing! | I got this awesome picture of the girls in the tilt a whirl after numerous attempts. | Puyallup Fair
What do you get your son for his 16th birthday?? A shotgun, of course (from Grandma and Papa)! Oh, and a trip to the fair to see Weird Al.
Over Labor Day, we drove down to Crater Lake to visit this enormous and amazing lake and obsidian field practically in our back yard. Raegan enjoyed it so much that she even did a school project on it. The weather was so beautiful that weekend and it felt great to get out and walk in the warm weather. | Crater Lake
I wish I could remember some of the facts
 Happy Halloween
 Trick or Treat time
Scott and I spent a weekend in Vegas for a work event and these were new sites to see in the Bellagio. The chocolate fountain is super awesome, seeing all of the wonderful chocolate falling, and there is a mirror on the ceiling that makes it look like the chocolate is falling up. The Grinch is decorated like a cake in the same bakery, along with numerous other amazing cakes on display.
Our friends stayed at the Cosmopolitan with these amazing views! We watched the Bellagio fountains for a long time each time we were in their room. It's hard to beat that view and it's one big reason why we return to Vegas as often as possible.
Scott planned many fun events this holiday season including ice skating in the new Tacoma ice rink, looking at Christmas lights, making cookies, and going to Leavenworth for some sledding and the lighting of the trees. Raegan had such a great time sledding down the hill, and we all loved standing near the burn barrels to stay warm. We couldn't believe how many people were there to see the town light up. It was amazing! | What a fun December!!
For Raegan's 11th birthday, she wanted a more teenage haircut, so we took her to a really nice place and got a fabulous haircut. We knew that the cut alone would not do the trick, so we got her a top notch flat iron to keep it straight. | Turning 11 | What a beautiful tweenager!!!!
A birthday filled with family and friends
We just love our family and spending time with them is a huge part of our lives. Thankfully, Michelle is good about bringing her camera to get some pictures to remember our fun times.
