3: We first became parents early in the morning on April 21st. Labor started late in the afternoon on April 19. We went to the hospital late that night. We were told that I was in prodromal labor. After being given some medication, we were sent home. Labor continued through the next day. At the time it seemed quite real, but in retropsect, it was a lot more like a very long early labor. By late afternoon on April 20, I felt that it was time to head on up to the hospital again. We did, only to find out that I had not progressed at all! We were given the okay to stay at the hospital and receive morphine so that I could get some rest, and check progress again in the morning. About one minute after the nurse left to start paperwork to admit us, my water broke and the real action started. We were admitted, after a quick soak in the tub, I was 5 cm dialated. The epidural was administered, and we were told to rest. Not long after that it was time to push, and 50 minutes later we first became Mommy and Daddy to our beautiful boy, Kyle Robert.
8: August 31, 2009 | 1:50 pm | 21.5 inches | 8 pounds | Ella Josephine Wilson | Announcing
9: On August 31, 2009, we welcomed our first beautiful daughter. Very mild, early labor began on August 30. We chose to go about our day as usual, and did not announce the status of labor to anyone. By evening, I decided it was okay to tell my Mom in case we needed to call her in the middle of the night to come over to take care of Kyle. I started timing contractions around 9pm, and by midnight, I thought it was time to head to the hospital. Yet again, nothing was happening. I was sent home with medication again. We decided to try to sleep. This was totally impossible for me as my contractions were becoming more and more intense. Sean was asleep in the couch, and I was really struggling through each contraction. I woke him up to sit with me, and around 7am, I called the doctor to go back to the hospital. This time things had gotten going and I was 5 cm dialated and admitted immediately. I got an epidural within 45 mintues, and enjoyed the sweet relief it gave me. Things were progressing slowly so I was given pitocin, which pushed us right from 5cm to 10cm in a very short time. After the doc came in, and 25 mintutes of pushing, our gorgeous Ella Josephine was born
14: March 16, 2011 | 4:34 am | 20 inches | 7 lbs 6 oz | Carlyn Michelle Wilson | Introducing
15: On March 16, 2011 our little family became complete with the birth of our second daughter. Nine days past my due date, I was scheduled for a final pregnancy check. I knew that I was having contractions, but was not certain that they were the real thing. After seeing the doctor, she set us up for induction the next morning. The rest of the day I hung around thinking that I was really starting "real" labor. Contractions were fairly mild, but getting more and more consistant as the day wore on. By dinner time, I finally decided that yes, it was real labor. I went to rest while Sean and my Mom took care of Kyle and Ella. Around 9pm, we called the doctor and she told us to head up to the hospital. At this time my contractions were still only moderately painful, and I was fully expecting to be sent back home, like I had been the previous two times. But, for the first time, I didn't get sent home! I was 5 cm dialted and admitted. The epidural was administered within an hour and we were told to rest. It wasn't long before I started to think things were progressing, but no one really checked me. My water broke and still no one checked me. At that time I was sure I was ready to go. It took another 2 hours to get checked, and by then of course, I was ready to push. After about 7 minutes of pushing our sweet baby girl, Carlyn Michelle was born.
