18: About the Author Marie Craig, a lifelong Massachusetts resident, has worked as a photographer since before she owned a camera. After earning undergraduate degrees in Art and Biology and a Masters in Biology, she worked for microscopists and pathologists a medical photographer and illustrator. There she learned to appreciate the incredible detail and beauty of things unseen. Changing family dynamics (the arrival of many children) prompted her to leave the academic environment and spend many summers at Dug Pond. During those years, Marie focused her creative energies on doing freelance projects in medical photography, illustration, and graphic design, as well as in operating a small general photography business. She has coordinated a number of volunteer projects in and around Natick, most notably the ‘School of Wilson’ mural project, a 200-ft. long student-designed and painted outdoor mural at the Wilson Middle School in Natick. Marie photographs places and things that have a hidden, forgotten beauty within them. Her work has received a number of awards, and has been shown in galleries and museums throughout the Boston area. This is her first childrens' book.
