FC: Amy & Billy
Dear Expectant Parent, We can't express in words how excited we are for you to read our story. We would love to get to know you better as well and to answer any questions that you may have. We have a lot of love to give and are excited to share life's moments with a child. Our goal is to provide a child with every opportunity to explore and find activities that will lead to a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life.
Meet Amy by Billy | Amy is a very kind, caring, loving, and family oriented person. Whenever someone needs a hand she will be there to help in any way that she can. Amy grew up as the youngest of three sisters and two step sisters. As the youngest child she always looked up to her sisters who were always there for her. In high school Amy focused on childcare and graduated with a certificate in infant and toddler teaching. While attending college one of her sisters was diagnosed with cancer. So, Amy left school to help out at her sister’s daycare center as a lead infant toddler teacher. During this difficult time she also helped to take care of her niece. Amy’s sister decided to close the daycare center and Amy found a new job in customer service were she has been for the last 11 years. Amy enjoys participating in outdoor activities like biking, rock collecting, camping, snowshoeing, ice skating, and recently has learned how to ski. Amy also enjoys spending time in Vermont and her second most favorite spot on Earth, Walt Disney World. Amy is still a little kid at heart and really enjoys Disney. If she could vacation at Disney every year she would! Her most favorite Disney character is Belle from Beauty and the Beast as she portrays strong independent women like Amy. Amy’s most favorite spot is at home where she enjoys relaxing with a good book, playing board games, scrapbooking, or snuggling with me.
Meet Billy by Amy | Billy is kind, caring, intelligent, athletic, and family oriented. Billy grew up with his mother, father and an older sister in the town that we currently live. Growing up Billy was the typical boy. He liked to play with cars, trucks, skateboard and participate in organized sports like soccer, basketball and baseball. In high school, Billy participated in football for one year, soccer for two years, wrestling for four years and track and field for four years. Billy was also very focused on his school work and got good grades that included being Valedictorian of his high school graduating class and then continuing on to college to get his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. For the past four years Billy has worked for a company that manufactures fire protection equipment. Billy’s hobbies include motocross, running, biking, camping, snowshoeing, ice skating, skiing, video games, and participating in triathlons. He also enjoys travel to Vermont and Walt Disney World. His favorite Disney character is Stitch from Lilo and Stitch. Billy thinks he is cute and fluffy!
Our Story | We met at a mutual friend’s birthday party in 2005; we quickly fell in love and knew that we wanted to spend our lives together and that children would be a part of our family. Billy proposed in 2006 at the same coffee shop where we had our first date. In a celebration of our love and appreciation for each other we were married in August of 2007. Our marriage is built on the love and friendship that we found in each other 5 years ago and has only strengthened over the years. Our fertility issues have only brought us closer and more united as a couple, as we work together to create the dream we both share. We are truly each other’s best friends, and even if we are doing nothing, but doing it together, we are doing everything we could ever want. We waited a long time to find each other, but it was worth the wait!
Our Loved Ones | Our families and friends are very important to us. We have always been loved and supported unconditionally by our families. From our families, we have learned the importance of integrity, family, education, community, caring for the environment and open-mindedness. We look forward to sharing these values with a child. We are proud to say that both of our families are very supportive of our decision to adopt and are very excited about our "new addition”.
In our home there is always love and laughter, we live in the same small town that we grew up in. Although we like living near big cities (Boston and Providence), we find it important for our balance and peace of mind to get away to smaller, quieter places. Our neighborhood is filled with children of all ages. On a typical weekend, we try to combine some fun and relaxation with our household chores. When we are not on a day-trip, visiting friends, or hosting family game night, we can be found riding our bikes at a park, the movies, bowling, or just reading books at home. One of the many things we enjoy doing together is traveling, especially to Disney or the house of mouse as we like to call it. When we are home we can be found in the kitchen cooking a special treat or in our library reading a book. We look forward to future family travels together and discovering the world through the eyes of a child. | Our Home and Interests
We believe the foundation of any relationship is truth and honesty coupled with clear communication. We celebrate adoption because it brings people together in the shared love for a child. We honor your place in the triad and will always welcome you into our family in whatever capacity you are comfortable with. We will tell him or her their adoption story, and always treat their adoption as something to be celebrated. We will make sure they always understand your love for them. We plan on raising a child with the same beliefs and values we grew up with. Growing up we learned the importance of integrity, family, education, community, caring for the environment and open-mindedness. We want this child to develop and figure out for themselves who they are, not who we desire them to be, letting them reach their own potential in a loving, playful, stable and supportive home. We will encourage them to explore their talents and interests through activities and play. Along with our family members we will be the parents on the bleachers cheering them on during a game or the loudest applauses during a school play. Our parents gave us the freedom to be ourselves, explore the world, and take some risks, even if that meant letting us make mistakes sometimes so we could learn valuable life lessons. We intend to do the same. We look forward to sharing old memories and making new ones as a family. She/he will be surrounded by other children who have been adopted so they will never feel alone or different because of their adoption. | Open Adoption and Parenting
