Audrey | Pound it! | Coach Johnston, So if you haven't noticed volleyball is one of my favorite sports, I just love playing the game. Like you always say its one of the reasons that I enjoy school is because I know that I am going to be able to practice later on in the day. This was a great year of volleyball, even though we came up just short of regional tournament we will be going next year without a doubt. This year's team was grateful to have someone like you who even though volleyball isn't really your specialty to step up and be the coach. It meant a lot for you to take over the team and have such a great season like we did and I know next year will be just the same as well. I am already looking forward for next years season to be here and underway. Next year will be my senior year and I am going to make the best of every moment. Audrey Faith #20

We are an army of lions led by the most ferocious lion in the jungle. Coach Johnston, we all love you. Thank you for being a such a strong leader and leading our pride of lions to success. -Autumn Wagman #3
Boss | Dear Coach Johnston I have enjoyed getting to know you and being able to tell you and help you with everything. When one door closes, another opens, but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us. It is possible to be happy without having perfect health...Thank goodness my happiness doesn't come from my joints, but from my heart. I never thought a that I could be so close to a coach, but then when I met you it made me realize you can be friends with anyone that you get along with no matter who they are. The best way to cheer yourself up is to cheer someone else. I will for sure miss you when I graduate. I will miss you a lot and I hope people can take care of you and keep you in line like I did. Its not a easy job doing some of the stuff. I hope people can carry on the job that I carried on for three years. You're a very caring guy easy to get along with. I loved helping you and all the other coaches that we had the past three years. I don't really want to leave you or this school behind but it is time for me to move on with my life and show others how to care about each other and other people. I will go gone with my life and never forget the Johnston family because you and your family are great people I will go on with my life and everything you taught me. Sincerely, Boss
Bristyn | Pound it! | Dear CJ, First of all I want to say thank you for all that you have done for our team this year. You put all of your time and effort into doing what our team needed to go far. Our motto this year was commitment, and boy were you committed. Even when you were sick, you were still at the gym doing everything you could for us. I saw a quote that said, “What a teacher is, is more important than what he teaches.” You have taught me more than just how to be a better volleyball player. You’ve taught me a lot about life, and you’ve always been there for me when I needed you. I’m honored to have a coach like you. I love you coach! Love, Bristyn
Conor | Pound it! | Thanks for being a great coach and allowing us to have a great year. I’m looking forward next year! Conor Wilson
Emily | This year was great because I felt like we really connected as a team and as a family. I love the way that you looked out for everyone and connected with them. I felt like we really showed others how committed we were to being the best. Early in the season, the year looked like a train wreck. But I think at the Bronte tournament we had a turning point. That turning point was when we had our sit-down in the locker room and bared our souls to each other. Without your guidance our team would've continued on the downward spiral and would not have accomplished anything. But instead, we all dug in and turned the year around. What most people thought would be a "rebuilding" year was actually one of the best seasons that Albany volleyball has had. We were so close to making the regional tournament, but even after the season the family stayed together. Without being a part of this team, I wouldn't have gotten to know everyone like I have, and made some great friendships. I want to thank you, Coach Johnston for setting the tone of the year, and making us be not just the best of the best. We are the only ones who do what we do. Emily Grimshaw
Erin | Pound it! | Dear CJ, This was an amazing year in volleyball with amazing girls and an even more amazing coach. We had our ups and downs through the year. But there is no one else I would have rather had as a coach. Love, Erin #7

Hannah | Pound it! | Dear CJ. We had an amazing season. We definitely had our ups and downs as a team but I seriously believe it was worth every minute! I learned a lot from you this year not only about volleyball alone but also about commitment. You showed me how to be committed in something and I absolutely found my passion this year in volleyball. I can't wait until next season! Hannah! #32

Mikala | Coach Johnston, This year will for sure be a year I won't ever forget, and it's all because of you. Our volleyball team this year had a amazing sense of family which made it all the better. We stuck together, emotionally off the court and physically on the court. Even at times when I thought our "family" seemed to be going south, you were right there to pick up up and tell us to put the pieces back together. I told you at the end of my junior I year that I wanted a team that got along and wouldn't fall apart, and that is exactly the team we had. When we lost the last playoff game, I felt at my lowest, but I saw on everyone's faces that they fought their hardest Maybe I am making this up but by the way everyone hugged me after, I felt like they had fought so hard to so long for me. My heart was broken over it, and I know their hearts broke for me. So next year, I hope you build another team that loves, fights and sticks together as much as the volleyball team of 2011-2012 and hopefully get the to the regional tournament. Good luck Coach Johnston. I love you and thank you for giving me a senior year better than I could of ever Imagined. Mikala Schooler | Pound it!

Kelli | Coach Johnston, They say as a season goes on you start to take on the characteristics of your coach. Their attitude, charisma, and they way they handle any situation. All season you taught us to stop and look around us at the opportunity we had, to settle our nerves and overcome adversity, to never give up and to learn to work together as a team. I am so thankful to have you as my coach. You taught me not only better the skills in my game, but how to become a better competitor as well. As a coach you always knew the right things to say and knew just how far to push. You always wanted us to be the best athletes possible, and that’s what you pushed us to be. You are kind-hearted and you not only care about us on the court but off the court as well. Everyday you tell us you love us and that today WILL be a good day. Throughout the day I keep that in the back of my mind, and I know that it will be. But most of all I appreciated everything you did for us. You showed me how to be a better leader and you paved the path to success for us. No matter what I will never forget the first year you coached me. I am so thankful to know that in the years to follow I will hopefully take on the traits of becoming an all around good person like you. I am so thankful for you and these words can’t even describe it. I cannot wait for another great successful year next year in volleyball. I love you Coach. -Kelli Schkade #9
