S: The Astle Family 2011
FC: The Astle Family 2011
In January, there really isn't a whole lot to do. Grandpa decided to take the kids to spend a Saturday sledding at Murray Park.
Megan & Amanda decided for their birthday this year they wanted to go bowling with the whole family. We even got Grandpa Astle to come with us!
Tiffany and Mick decided February was a good time for Owen to be blessed. It was great having family there to support him. He is a great blessing to our family.
Addy's dream came true when the Disneyworld trip finally happened in February. | She rode most of the rides, ate with the princesses, and received autographs from all of the characters.
Marcus had the opportunity to put on a Shakespeare play with his 6th grade class. His character was Puck and he played the part perfectly. The play was so good they were invited to go to the Shakespearean Festival in July down in Cedar City to perform it on their stages.
March was the lucky month for Parker. He ended up losing his first tooth, and three days after that the second one came out. Grandpa Astle still had the magic touch pulling his teeth out!
March is also a fun month to celebrate birthdays. We celebrated Paul's birthday on March 4th. | On March 24, we got to celebrate Cindy's birthday. We won't complain to have cake & ice-cream twice in a month.
In March, Paul had work in Arizona so Cindy and Marcus decided it was a good time to get in warm weather. They were able to drag Grandma Allen with them.
The weekend before Easter we had our Allen Biggest Loser 5k in Flowell. The weather was perfect for us as we raced around the "Flowell Block". The kids even participated in their own race on their bikes.
We colored Easter eggs the night before and took them to the sand dunes to play and roll them down the sand.
In May, Jason and Heather surprised Parker and took him to Disneyland for his first time. He was the perfect age and size because he could ride all of the rides. He loved seeing all of the characters but his two favorite were Goofy and Captain Jack Sparrow!
May was recital time for Heather, Marcus, and Addy. | Parker also was in a cowboy program for Kindergarten.
Parker turned 6 this year on May 29. Parker knew ever since he got to meet Jack Sparrow in Disneyland that he wanted a pirate party for his birthday. The kids played some fun pirate games and got to go on a treasure hunt through the house to find the "gold".
The last day of school this year was the last time that Uncle Marcus could walk Parker to school. They won't ever be in the same school together again. With school being out, Addy and Parker had swimming lessons together. They both have officially learned how to swim by themselves!!!
Another thing Addy and Parker learned how to do this summer was to ride their bikes without training wheels. | Addy was actually the one that helped Parker learn how to ride. He wouldn't try very hard until Addy came over to the school and they rode through a big puddle. It ended with a big crash that got them both soaked, but that is what motivated Parker to try!
Paul, Cindy, and Marcus went to Hawaii in June. They invited their friends, Don and Jean to come because they have never been to Hawaii before. They went on a lot of fun hikes and riding bikes is a must along the ocean.
They did the Napali Coast boat ride where the scenery is amazing. Unfortunately, Marcus was doped up on Dramomine that it knocked him right out.
It has become a great tradition to go to Jackson Hole for the 4th of July. The kids love the parade. | Marcus and Addy also did a high trampoline jump. We even got Great-Grandpa Astle to go down the Alpine Slide.
We also went to Lake Powell in July. We enjoyed lots of swimming, waterskiing, going down the slide, jumping off the houseboat, hiking around, visiting Indian ruins, and having lots of fun just being with each other. Marcus went to Cedar right after and was in the Shakesperean Festival with his 6th grade class.
We all can't believe Owen turned 1 on August 6. He loved tearing into his heart cake that turned him red for days. He is such a special little boy and we are grateful to have him in our family!!!!!
The Allen Reunion was in Logan this year. The first day we went golfing and went to the Martin Harris pageant that night. We spent the next day boating at Hyrum Dam.
The last night we played at the Sports Academy in the gymnastics room.
The end of the summer we were able to have a swimming party at the Erickson's house. Some of us enjoyed doing tricks off of the diving board. It is a good thing we all love to play in the water.
This year the beginning of school was a big change for all of us. Marcus is a 7th grader so he is at the junior high now. | Parker is in 1st grade so he goes to school all day now. Addy started preschool with Ms. Lorie.
The year anniversary of Owen's heart surgery we all participated in the Intermountain Healing for Hearts Walk. It was amazing to see all of the children that are affected by heart problems. It was an emotional experience because you could just feel how each of these children are miracles!!
It was a nice warm October day so we decided to take the kids to Gardner Village to see the witches. | Owen wasn't too sure about the witches but Parker and Addy loved copying what they were doing.
Paul, Cindy, Marcus, Jason, Heather, and Parker decided to have a party carving pumpkins two nights before Halloween. They all turned out really good. | Mick, Tiffany, Addy, and Owen went to their friends to carve their pumpkins. Addy even made eyelashes for her pumpkin.
This family is very creative when it comes to costumes for Halloween. | We had one of the warmest trick-or-treat nights ever. It was nice not having to worry about coats. | The channel 4 news was videoing Parker and he was not too sure what to think. He finally yelled, "Reporter!!!!" and ran away fast.
This year we spent Thanksgiving in Flowell. | Paul and Cindy made the pies that were scrumptious!! | We are very grateful for our families!!!!
Marcus has been into planking lately so it was no surprise that was the theme of his birthday this year. He has even taught all of the kids how much fun it is to plank!!!
Addy decided to have a Tinkerbell party for her 5th birthday. | We were told to dress up like fairies if we wanted to come to her party!
We can't believe Christmas is already here. This year has been full of excitement. We are so grateful for the blessings our family has and for the birth of our Savior. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
