S: Cannons 2011
1: We rang in the New Year with Matt White at our small white rental house while playing SuperNintendo Mario. Valentines was enjoyed at New Harmony with FBC couples for a weekend retreat. Dave surprised me by buying me the first piece of jewelry (besides the rings). In the Spring, we began house hunting, but not without a few holdups. Dave had some identity theft that had to be cleared up...and that sure did take awhile. We spent nearly every Sunday afternoon for a couple months at open houses to pass the time. May was a very exciting month! Right before I graduated, I was offered by first career job as a Social Worker at Woodlands Nursing Home. May 8th was Graduation Day for me! That very next weekend we made an offer on our home and then went off to Cincinnati to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. Shortly after, we learned our offer was accepted and we began the process of packing up! Before my birthday, and inbetween moving and painting, Dave surprised me by letting me pick out a doggy from a Foster Home program. (I say that I picked her, but really she picked me) Lucy. White with lots of spots. Boxer-Pit mix. Adorable with those big wrinkley cheeks that you want to hide cheetos and M&Ms in. After we got her, we found out she had an awful case of kennel cough, but the 2 week quarantine was just what she and Charlie needed in order to become best friends. We moved into our home in and with lots of help from Ron and Joy, we were able to renovate it by pulling up old 1980s vinyl and laying down porcelain tile, scraping off wallpaper and rolling on fresh paint, removing old appliances and updating them to more modern styles. My parents came down and helped us do some landscaping, too. August meant classes started again for Dave, although we found out he should graduate this upcoming spring of 2012! Crissie also got married in August and looked gorgeous. Dave was also asked to take over as the new Youth Discipleship Ministry leader and he couldn't have been happier! In September, we traded in his 1998 Sunfire "Yoshi" and upgraded to a 2006 Pontiac G6. It's nice to have 4 rims and a seat that actually sits upright. I just had to promise not to spill anymore large Dr. Peppers in his car now. Dave celebrated his 30th birthday this year! Our new patio door has been the perfect touch to our remodeling but there is still more work to be done! We enjoyed our "staycation" for a week in December and had a very nice holiday weekend with our families. This year has held so many blessings and trials for our marriage and we have continually been learning how to live and forebear with one another. I am so thankful for our life together.
