FC: Portell Family Vacation 2011 Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin July 15-27, 2011
Are We in Wisconsin Yet?... | ...Milo started asking that as soon as we got into the car. It was a long ride!
When we crossed the state line, we had to stop at the Welcome to Wisconsin sign. Even though we were finally in Wisconsin, Milo did not really understand, so he continued to ask if we were in Wisconsin yet. We were so excited to finally have arrived! | We're Here!
The Condo | We loved the view from our condo--the water park of course!
It was too late to go to the water parks on Friday, so we played lazer tag instead. We were not too good at it, but we had a great time! | Lazer Tag!
WATER | The water was a little chilly... | ...but we couldn't help but get in!
PARKS! | The water parks had something for everyone!
Downtown Wisconsin Dells | Milo was tired of all the girl pictures. He wanted a picture with just the boys.
Downtown was not exactly what we expected, but we had a great time and found a lot of picture spots.

 More Water Parks
A Minor Setback July 18, 2011 | The Ride of a Lifetime It all happened in a second. My summer vacation went from the best family vacation ever to the most challenging event of my life. In my family, I have thirteen people. Trying to put together a family vacation for that many people was not an easy task. Finally, a date and place were choses. We chose Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, the water park capital of the world, for the affair. We thought it would be exciting for the adults and the kids, but we never expected this much excitement on a family road trip.
Monday morning we planned to ride the Ducks. We woke up that morning to rain and storms, so instead of riding the Ducks, we had to find something else to do, and with thirteen people, that is not easy. Finally, we decided that because we were in Wisconsin, we had to go to a cheese factory. PLus, Emma had been talking about cheese the entire time we had been in Wisconsin. The nearest cheese factory was about thirty minutes away, so we climbed into two cars and left. We were traveling down County Road K when a sliver car pulled right out in front of the van, and the two cars hit. For a moment after it happened, it was silent. Then it hit me; my family members were in a car accident on what was supposed to be the best vacation of our lives. All I could do in that moment was cry. Christy was repeating to me to stay calm, but i could not. Andy pulled his car over and jumped out before the van settled in the ditch. Christy called 911, and soon the paramedics were there. It was chaotic. After everyone was checked out, all seven passengers road in ambulances to the hospital. later we found out that the only injuries were seat belt and airbag burns, and Mom had a cracked sternum. We felt blessed and happy that everyone was basically all right, except our old trusty van that was totaled and had to be left in Wisconsin. We still enjoyed the rest of what Wisconsin had to offer after the accident. Our first family vacation to Wisconsin Dells was the trip of a lifetime, and I know that none of us will forget it or how wonderful it is to be with family.
