S: Dill Character Analysis

FC: D I L L | By: Jack Hazlett and Lakan Thomas

My name is Charles Baker Harris, but everyone calls me Dill. This scrapbook is going to show some of my experiences in Maycomb. Many things happened while I was here. | I'm pretty adventurous, and there are many things I like to do. Reading is something I am really into. A lot of people think I'm odd when they first meet me. I definitely get in trouble by my stepfather and mother quite often. | I am trustworthy to my friends and I'm easily entertained by the people in Maycomb. So many of them are outrageous and mysterious. I'll never forget the memories I made with Scout and Jem.

A lot of the time I feel unwanted by my family, I get passed from relative to relative but it doesn't bother me that much because I find new people that learn to enjoy my company!

A important person that has been by my side is Scout. She always makes me feel wanted when I play with her and Jem. We always have fun with each other. Whenever I ran away from my mother... she was one of the first people I thought of. I even proposed to her that when we are older, we will wed and live happily together.

Jem is another person that I have enjoyed having as a friend. Him and I always do the funnest things together and he is like a brother to me. While I was gone I missed having him to play with.

I'd have to say the biggest event that ever happened to me in Maycomb is when i first met Jem and Scout. We met early one summer morning at Miss Rachel's wire fence. I introduced myself and told them that I could read. I told them about the picture shows i had seen and what Meridian was like. Since that moment I spent every summer with my two best friends in Maycomb.

Another event I experienced down in Maycomb was when Jem, Scout, and I all listened to Atticus's court case about Tom Robinson. The fact that this innocent man was being charged with a crime that he didn't do and had proof that he was innocent and was still going to be guilty completely made me break down. I had to leave the court house to get some fresh air. That experienced showed me the dark side of racism in Maycomb and that there were a lot of problems in the south.

I love reading. If there's anything that anybody needs read i can do it. Books are one of my favorite things since reading is such a huge thing to me. Even though I'm only four-and-a-half, goin on seven I can read all types of things. I enjoy books and any other reading material that I can read and tell someone about.

The note that Jem and I wrote to Boo Radley was the first of our attempts to see if Boo was really there. We wrote him a note to see if he wanted to get ice cream after our whole summer drama. We were trying to get it to the Radley window when Atticus caught us and ordered us to stop playing the Radley Games. The note sparked all of our other attempts and plans to find out if Boo was alive and in the Radley place.A

" I'm Charles Baker Harris, I can read/You got anything that needs readin' I can do it"( Lee 7). These first few words from Dill lets the reader know that Dill loves to read and break the ice between Dill, Jem, and Scout that starts their friendship.
