The language spoken in Akita is Japanese. Very few in Akita are able to speak English. There are many foods that only Akita is famous for. Morokoshi, is a sweet food made of azuki beans. 11: Dear Journal, I just arrived in Akita, Japan, and I am already homesick. I think I should have learned more Japanese before I acme here. Hopefully I will be able to find some one to help me out. This is a big city I need to find help soon. Right now I am sitting on a bench in Senshu park. Wow, this is a sight to see. Well I better start looking for my hotel before it gets too dark. Wish me luck, hope I don't get lost. | Journal #1 September23, 2012
Dear Journal, Kon'nichiwa is about all I Know how to say. So, yesterday afternoon, I found out how to say "I hardly speak Japanese nor do I understand it. After I said that to the young Japanese lady at the front desk, the funniest thing happened. She said," Oh, O.K, I know English also, would you like a room?" I think I was the happiest person on Earth. Now, I am sitting in my bed at "The Pearl City Akita Hotel". I have a great view out my window of pretty white and red flowers. Ever since yesterday my new friend Lynn( the nice lady at the front desk) has been calling up to check on me. The people here are very kind. | Journal #2 September24, 2012
Dear Journal, It's been great here, but I am beginning to feel very home sick. To take my mind off things I went to the Omoriyama Zoo. The animals there are huge. I can't remember the name of it, but there was this HUGE lizard. I think it resembles Godzilla if you ask me. After I cam from the zoo and went back to my room, I got a call from my mom on my cell. She said she can't wait till I come back home, she is very worried. I can't wait to get home either. | Journal #3 September25, 2012
Dear Journal, Before left I wanted to explore some more things first. So, today I went to get a Kimono and wore it around the city. Lynn came with me and we walked around the gorgeous city. It looked as if we were in a movie. All the leaves were falling gracefully as we walked down town. Now I am packing my things so I can leave this afternoon. Lynn said she would miss me and wished me a safe trip. She also made me promise to come back. I told her I will, of course. Next time I will bring my family, that way they can admire the city with me. | Journal #4 September26, 2012
Akita city is hardly like Kansas. In the fall time in Akita it is extremely warm. In Kansas it is cold and slightly windy. Akita city and Kansas city both have falling leaves during this time. Although for some reason, Akita city's leaves fall more slowly and peacefully some how. Another difference is that in Akita the main language is Japanese. Very few that live there know how to speak English. In Kansas our main language is English , and little know how to speak Japanese.
1.) | This Journey has showed me that I can enjoy something I hardly know about. I say this because in Akita city, even though I was lost for a while, I was still in love with the city. The effect this trip has had on me is that from now on I am going to take chances. Even though I went unprepared everything turned out O.K. Now I know no matter what everything will turn out alright. From now on I won't worry about the out come because it'll turn out just fine.
I conclude that a journey is a great experience to have. A journey helps you to learn new things. Whether and if it is a mental journey or a physical one it helps you to grow stronger and helps you to see things a a different perspective. My journey in Akita, Japan let me see that anything can happen. Even if you are not sure what the out come may be, go for it.
