Alice Marie Hanna Date: Sunday 2nd May 2010 To: Steven & Rachel Hanna At: Queens Hospital, Romford Weight: 811g (1lb 12ozs) Time: 16:39

Ultrasound 1 & 2 We had our first ultrasound scan on Christmas Eve. We waited to tell your grandparents we were expecting you until then! Our favourite part was your hand moved and it looked like you waved at us. | It was exciting to hear your heart beat for the first time. The first scan was a little bit early so they asked us to come back two weeks later, so they could complete the necessary tests. Your due date was confirmed as 13th July 2010.

Ultrasound 3 It felt like a long wait for this scan, at 22 weeks. We were excited to see how much you had grown. Everyone was happy with how you were growing. We found out we were having a baby girl. Mummy felt she was having a girl; Daddy thought it was a boy but was happy that God had given us a daughter !

The Story of Your Birth We were delighted when we found out in October; we were expecting you. The pregnancy had been smooth. Mummy had no morning sickness and had continued to teach full time. We were happily planning for your July arrival. We were seeing the midwife regularly and Mummy's blood pressure was rising. The midwife team kept a close eye on Mummy and on the 28th April they decided Mummy's blood pressure was too high so they send Mummy to the hospital to be checked. The doctors felt that Mummy needed to be kept in the hospital and they monitored both of us. Each day they discussed sending us home but one of the tests would have them concerned so they kept us in. On the 1st May Mummy had a surprise 40th birthday party planned for Daddy. I told Daddy it was important for him to go. After the party I called him and he realised I was not very well so he rushed back to the hospital. They got me stable and sent Daddy home to get some sleep . A few hours later he got a call from Mary, the midwife to say he had to come back to the hospital. On Sunday morning, the consultant, Celia Burrell decided the best thing was for you to be born. So at 16:39 on Sunday, 2nd May 2010, you were delivered by emergency cesarean section. We give God the glory for the miracle He gave us!

 The first few days.....

You were born at 29 weeks and 5 days. When you were born you were admitted straight into the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). You were placed in an incubator to help keep you warm. You were breathing on your own but were | on CPAP to help keep your lungs open. You had a feeding tube in your mouth and lots of wires attached to you to help the doctors and nurses monitor how you were doing. Mummy and Daddy came to visit you everyday!

We would read you a story, the Bible and sing songs to you everyday. We always said to you "Mummy loves you, Daddy loves you but Jesus loves you even more.! | We helped look after you as much as we were allowed... We changed your nappy, checked your temperature, and in time feed you, your bottle.
