It was another October morning when Red awoke to say, "I wonder if I will be sold today?"
Red had watched pumpkins come and had watched pumpkins go, and all month long he had wanted to know,
"I know how I got here, but I want to know more. More about this pumpkin patch and what it is for!"
Cindy Said, "The Pumpkin Patch for missions is here to help out!
To help people who are in need is what it's all about!"
"There are children who are hungry, and it just isn't fair! Through the sale of a pumpkin, we can show them we care!"
"Sometimes parents may not have money for bills or for food. Money from the patch can help them and brighten their mood!"
"But how can a pumpkin help?" Red began to stew, Peanut replied, "Why there are lots of things pumpkins can do!"
Some pumpkins are just for looking at because they are not very sweet! Other Pumpkins help out by being turned into a treat!
Red became concerned. He didn't know what to do. "I'm too old to help out." He sighed to Blue.
"It will be hard to be seen with so many pumpkins around, but I can do so much more than sit on the ground!"
"I know I can be special if given the chance! I'll paint on a face and put on some pants!"
Blue replied, "The sale of one pumpkin can make a difference, it's true, but with the sale of every pumpkin, oh the good we could do!"
Red was so excited he couldn't wait to be sold! "Every pumpkin is important no matter how old!"
Just then, one of the patch servants bought Red to take home, and suddenly he understood why he had been grown!
Pumpkins share a purpose from one generation to another.
And pumpkins can help people who can then help each other!
