3: Mesopotamia -Most people were polytheistic, belief in many gods. -The people used the wheel for sail and travel ease. -The Nile river is in this country. -The social classes include priests and rulers, slaves, and farmers. -Cuneiform was their written language. -Mesopotamia is also called "Fertile Crescent" because it is fertile land. -Mesopotamia is located between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. -The government was controlled by their religion and heard from their gods. -Sumer, Babylon, Assyria, and Akrad are all located in Mesopotamia. -Mesopotamia had limited natural resources.
4: Indus -Indus is located between Indus and Ganges rivers -There are many monsoons (seasonal winds that bring rain or dry air) -Himalayas are to the North of this country. -Indus has a strong central government. -Indus came up with the idea of plumbing and sewer system. -When the rivers flood, it produces silt. -Indus is a subcontinent. -Indus started planning cities on a grid system. Indus was the beginning of the Hindu culture (polytheistic) -There were major buildings in the center.
7: China -China is located between Yellow and Yangtze rivers. -Most of the buildings in China were made out of wood. -Chinese saw their culture as the center of a civilized world. -The Himalayas were to the South and Gobi desert was to the North. -Whenever there was a flood, it left behind loess. -There was Feudalism (king gives noble land, noble gives military service) -The Chinese worshiped their ancestors and prayed to them for guidance. -China's written language is very different from English. -There was Bronze and Iron working, silk, roads, and canals -Their ancestors can either bring blessings or curses to them.
8: Egypt -In Egypt, they had mummification to preserve bodies for afterlife. -The Egyptians made up the concept of Geometry. -The Egyptian writing was called Hieroglyphics. -The pyramids were tombs are the Pharaohs. -The Nile river, in Egypt, flow South to North. -When the Nile river floods, it provides fertile land. -The Red Sea is to the right of Egypt, and Mediterranean sea is North. -The mummification that Egyptians did took 70 days to complete. -Ancient Egypt was ruled by Pharaohs and they were also seen as gods. -Mut is the capital of Egypt.
