FC: The summer of 2010 | Let the Fun Begin... | The Summer of 2010
Our kids had been begging us for a dog for a very long time. Shaylin was constantly leaving us notes on our pillows and on her bedroom door asking for a dog. Gord and I never seriously discussed it until the beginning of June. He had finished dropping off a friend at his home when he noticed one of the neighbour's dogs had just had puppies. After seeing the puppies Gord was drawn right away to the biggest and dopiest dog in the litter. Later that night he took me to see him and even though I had planned on saying "no" I fell in love! We decided that he would be the perfect dog for our family.
When we brought Walter Bailey was away at camp with his school. He had no idea at all we were even thinking of getting a dog. So when he came home from camp I told him I had a present for him. I had taken all these pictures of Walter and put them in a collage. When he opened it up he was screaming...it was very fun! Walter was born on May 15th but we didn't get to bring him home until June 28th which was the last day of school. We were so excited...he was the star of the neighborhood!
 Pawprints On Our Hearts
Two days after we picked up Walter we left to go to Alberta Beach Camp in Edmonton. Walter drove along with his kennel in the trailer. We made lots of stops along the way...it was a very fun ride.
 Beach | Alberta | Camp
This year was our third time at Alberta Beach camp. So many of Gord's relatives come and it is a fun way to visit with everyone in just one week. Shay loves to visit with Dan and Melanie's girls and we all look forward to the evening campfires.
Shay and I had so much fun taking Walter out into the big fields and letting him run around. He was the star of camp that week - everyone loved him!
For our third year in a row we had a very fun week at Alberta Beach. It is always so nice for the kids to spend time with their cousins. Cortlin really had a great time and Gord and I had fun visiting with all the relatives too. Gord was still in a cast from his accident but he still managed to hobble around. We also made a couple trips to West Edmonton Mall on the rainy days. It was our first camping trip of the summer and our very first camping trip with Walter!
 A quick stop in Jasper
 MAKING MEMORIES
Birthday Girl! | On the afternoon of my birthday Cindy and Ella and Oliver came out to Abbotsford. Cindy spoiled me by making me a delicious lunch. After lunch we went to Birchwood Dairy. The kids had a great time in the playground...it was a really great day.
On the evening of my birthday we went to Cultus Lake and had a very fun barbecue with Buzz and Trish and our kids.
...our favorite part od the night was watching Maya and Walter play together...so cute!
 Creationfest 2010
It was our third official year of "Creationfest" and we were all very excited. This year the location changed from the Gorge to Enumclaw Washington. Even though the scenery of the Gorge could not be replaced it was pretty nice to be in a town that was close to a Starbucks. The Kreigs also came along this year and of course so did the Crockers! Shay was pretty happy to have a friend (Hailey) with her. The kids had fun going to all the concerts. Bailey had a great time making friends at all the booths that were set up. Once again we managed to survive the late nights , the honey buckets and generator noises -it was alot of fun!
Even though it was pretty cool at night we made the boys sleep outside. There was no room for a tent so they just slept on the carpet between our trailers. They would talk all night and then all of a sudden we would just hear snoring. It was pretty funny to watch them...
 Birch Bay
We had never been to Birch Bay but when we bought our trailer we ended up with three free nights at "Beachwood Resort" and so we thought we'd give it a try. As it turned out it was great! We loved that it had three swimming pools and a hot tub. Bailey brought his friend Keiren along and they had a blast. We had a campfire every night. Shay and I loved going for long bike rides and going hiking. We loved going to the beach and taking Walter for fun walks. Our three day trip turned into a ten day trip...we had a great time!
The Haima's came out to have a fun barbeque with us one night. The kids went for a swim and after we had a campfire and made smores.
 MAKING MEMORIES
Summer would just not feel right without a camping trip at Cultus with Trish - after all we have camped together at Cultus Lake for the past seven years! This year we both had our puppies with us and we took them both to the lake every day. | Trish and I spent alot of time with our chairs and our dogs at the beach -we were engrossed in the "Twilight" Books! The kids spent hours in the lake. The weather wasn't great for most of the week - but we had fun!
This was our second year staying at the Sole Vita. It is so beautiful there and the kids just loved playing in the pool for hours.
It hardly ever rains in Osoyoos but it did rain almost every day we were there...which meant not as much pool time as we had hoped. So, instead we did a little exploring and visited some absolutely beautiful vineyards .
This was the last day of our summer vacation and we were all feeling a little sad...it was time to say good bye to a really fun week and start heading home -school was only three days away!
This was an action packed summer and probably one of the most fun we have ever had. I think we counted that in total we camped for 36 nights! Our highlight was most definitely getting Walter. He gave us alot of laughs and we had so much fun with him! I am sure the kids would agree with me on this one. We all loved camping with so may of our great friends and family. From Alberta Beach to Creationfest, and Birch Bay to Cultus Lake, camping was a blast! The kids were always busy doing something . I think I gained about seven pounds from all the barbecued burgers and camp fired smores we ate! Gord was still recovering from his accident and spent most of the summer in a cast...but he was a trooper. He still had lots of fun despite the fact that he was almost always in pain by the end of the day. Looking back on all these pictures only makes me cherish these fun summer memories even more...we are blessed.
