1: In 1919 Jackie was born in Cairo, Georgia; in a family of 6. Jackie then moved to Pasenda, California. There he went to Mair Technical High School. At the University Pasenda Junior College and UCLA. | In 1943 Jackie enlisted in the Army. Then in '44 Jackie retired from the army and joined the Negro Leagues.
2: Branch Rikely (Brooklyn Dodgers Owner) approached Jackie in '45. Jackie played for the Dodgers farm team for a year and then came up to the majors. | In Jackie's first game in the majors he hit a homerun and three singles. Then in '47 Jackie won the Rookie of the Year award.
3: He won a total of six pennants and the 1955 World Series. He had spent a total of 10 years in the Major leagues. Jackie in '62 was the first black in the Hall of Fame. | Jackie had a wonderful family life. He married a women named Rachel Islum. Together they had three kids; Sharon, David, and Jackie Jr.
4: Jackie fought for black rights. He has a great quote "No one is free until everyone is free." | Then in 1972 Jackie was up in Stanford, Connecticut and died.
