1: what PAINTINGS were famous? | THE AMERICAN GOTHIC | Sara Kolthoff | One of the most famous paintings of the 1930's was painted in Iowa. The American Gothic was painted by Grant wood in 1930. The painting is a cottage designed in the Gothic Revival style that he found in Eldon, Iowa. He painted people he thought might live in that house. He had his sister model the women and his dentist model the man. | what Sculptures were famous? | Mount Rushmore | One of the most famous sculptures of all time in America is Mount Rushmore. Cutzon Borglum started carving it in 1927 and his son finished it between 1934 and 1939. This mountain is in Keystone, South Dakota. The mountain features George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. It represents the first 150 years of of the history of the United States.

2: what Art ideas and techniques did they use ? | Art in the 1930's was used as entertainment. Americans used to influence new ideas and to express themselves. The Great depression was taking place at the time and there was a lot of economic problems so people showed their expressions through images. It was a way for them to escape their grief and sorrows. Every painting portrayed different expressions because everyone during that time were suffering in different ways. Finger paining came about during the 1930's. the two most common techniques used during the 1930's is surrealism and abstract expressionism. some of the most common types of paints they used were oil paint, watercolor and charcoal. | by: Sara Kolthoff

3: The most characteristic North American fashion trend from the 1930s to the end of World War II was attention at the shoulder, with butterfly sleeves and banjo sleeves, and exaggerated shoulder pads for not only the women but the men also. Gloves were enormously important in this period. 4: Neckties were wide, and bold geometric designs were popular, including stripes, and quadrilateral designs. the fedora was very popular in this time period also. During the early part of the decade, men's suits were modified to create the image of a large torso. During this time, Blazers became popular for summer wear. 5: Influence | Art in the 1930's was already very sophisticated which has led to even more artwork that is sophisticated today. The 1930's also brought new techniques such as, realism, surrealism, and abstract. It has also lead to more job opportunities in America.
