BC: I Guess I'm out of paper so this must be | THE END!
FC: Author: Marguerite De Angeli | The Door In The Wall | Book Report By: Bradley Layton
Characters | The main character in the story in Robin. His parents want him to become a knight but he can't. He can't become a knight because he can barely move his legs. Thats when he goes on a journey with Brother Luke. They seek out a man to help him get better, but on the way he meets danger. | Brother Luke is a monk. He sets off on a journey with Robin to help him heal his legs. He also teaches Robin the ways of a follower of God. Brother Luke and Robin become good friends on the trip. But can Brother Luke protect Robin from the dangers?
Why did the Author write this book? | I think the author wrote this book for many reasons. One is to entertain readers. Another is to show what life was like during the time of knight's and castles. My last reason is that he doesn't want us to give up even if we are hurt.
Setting | It takes place in midevil times with knights and castles. It also takes place in London, St. Mary LeBow, St Swithin's and, St Paul's. But it doesn't say exactly what year.
Problem | The problem is that Robin can't move his legs. So that's why they set off on a journey. Halfway through the journey they get into trouble. Also, Brother Luke has been teaching Robin leg exercises and they are starting to work. However, there is a second problem. When they get to the castle they have been heading for, they get attacked by an army. Robin sneaks out of the castle because Brother Luke left to a small town to see his mom. Now it's up to Robin to save the castle because everyone is still stuck in the castle.
How the problem is solved | Over time Robin's legs start to get better and he uses crutches to get around and gets really good at using them. By the end he doesn't need to use them anymore and he can finally walk. | Robin saves the castle with Brother Luke's help, and ringing the bell. He does this by finding Brother Luke, at his moms house in a nearby town, and getting to the bell tower. The bell helps save them, because a friendly army nearby hears it and comes to their rescue.
Favorite Scene | My favorite scene was when the Author described the fog. It was my favorite part because I could imagine what the fog looked like. | "Little could be seen from the watch tower or wall but a blank whiteness covering everything. Even the outer walls of the castle were hidden from the watchmen at the top of the keep". pg.80
How the character changed | The story starts out with Robin being barely able to move his legs. After traveling for a bit he gets a little stronger. When Robin gets even stronger, he makes himself some crutches. He gets pretty good with crutches, so his friend Brother Luke teaches him some exercises. Some include swimming, and they start to work because he can now walk a few feet. Finally by the end of the story he can finally walk.
The most important part was when they rang the bell. It was important for many reasons. One is because it saved thousands of people's lives. Also, it showed that Robin was worthy to become a knight. The reason this saved everyone's life was because a friendly army nearby heard it. The army that heard the bell came to the rescue of the town, and rescued them from the Welsh army. | Important scene
Extra Questions | If I was a a new character my role would be Robin's best friend. I would go on the adventure with him and help him walk. Also, I would help ring the bell. Last, I would help him when he gets into a fight. | My relationship with the other characters would awesome, because I would know everybody. I would know everybody because I would be a 15 year old boy who has traveled his whole life.
Extra Questions | I would change the outcome of the story massively. One thing I would change would be Robin's leg. I would change by using my knowledge to fix it in a few weeks, instead of a few months. The second thing I would change would be him going on an adventure. I would change this because, I fixed his legs and now he doesn't have to go on a adventure. I would be in the story all way till his legs are healed. Than I would go back to traveling.
