2: C | Your Birth Story Mommy had been thinking and praying about the day you'd be born throughout her pregnancy, Since she had to have a c-section with your sister, it was very important to her to be able to have you come into the world naturally. Mommy started cramping and feeling a little different on Thursday, May 5th.She had an appointment earlier that morning when they told her she was 2 cm dilated. Since her last day of work had been the previous Wednesday (May 4th), Mommy spent that Friday morning making sure everything was ready for your arrival. She picked up your sister at Aunt Nae's that afternoon. Braya went down for her nap, and Mommy tried to relax herself. When Braya woke up, Mommy sat on the floor to change her pull-up. As she went to stand up, she realized her water had broken (3pm). It was the strangest feeling in the world! She called Daddy who began to rush home from work, Aunt Jen who started driving up to watch Braya for when Mommy & Daddy went to the hospital, her doula, Talitha, and Grandma and Grandpa Martin who hit the road to drive down to GA. Everyone was so excited for your arrival. A couple hours later, the contractions were coming about 3-5 minutes apart. Mommy was able to work through them, but she had lots of phone calls telling her to go to the hospital. Aunt Nicole met them on the way. She was ready to meet you too! Once everyone checked into the hospital (around 10 pm), they told Mommy that she still was only 2 cm and you weren't going to be there just yet. Aunt Nicole went home to get some sleep, and Mommy and Daddy walked around for a little until they, too, tried to sleep.
3: (continued) Because the contractions were still pretty strong and close together, the nurses gave Mommy come medicine to try to help her sleep. It only worked a little because in the early hours of the morning, Mommy went into active labor. She really wanted to manage the contractions without an epidural, so the doula and Daddy were there to try to help. Mommy spent a long time trying to relax on a birthing ball, which made her feel a little better. Around 10 AM, she reached the transitional phase, which meant that you were going to be here very soon. The Daddy, the doula, and the midwife (Anjli) tried having Mommy go from place to place to try to make her comfortable. She didn't like the bed at all, so she rotated from the birthing ball to squatting/kneeling on the floor. After a little while, Mommy could feel that you were ready to come out. Once that time had finally come, there was no moving from the floor. The nurses ran around and made a comfy bed of sheets and towels for you right there on the floor. Your whole body came flying out with one push, and it was the most miraculous thing in the entire world! . Mommy scooped you immediately up into her arms and you two spent the next several moments snuggling in the bed. You entered the world at 12:59pm on May 7th (your due date). This was minutes before the doula had to leave. God had worked out every last detail of your birth: babysitter, doula, awesome midwife, no epidural for Mommy, and the best part-a perfect angel sent from heaven-YOU! After 22 hours of labor, the sight of your face made everything perfect! You were 7 lbs, 14 oz and 21.4 inches of pure sweetness. It was a day Mommy and Daddy will never forget!
