S: Dive Trip/Cruise on the Carnival Valor - 2009
BC: Just another great dive trip with my Dad.
FC: Carnival Valor | Roatan, Honduras | Turneffe Atoll, Belize | Grand Cayman | Cozumel, Mexico
Sunday, August 16, 2009 As we were leaving Miami, people were actually pulling over on the side of the highway to wave goodbye! | It was a beautiful trip out to the open ocean. South Beach was packed. Many people along the walking paths were shouting to us on the boat.
Throughout this entire adventure, I really enjoyed taking pictures of the FOOD! It's a cruise, and the food is a very important part of all of the fun! This was our first lunch on the boat. Next came a yummy cocktail, and then we were off to a fancy dinner!
After spending a day at sea, we arrived in Grand Cayman early Tuesday morning. A small tender came to take us to the main part of the island where we waited for a van to take us to the dive shop.
While we were waiting, it gave us a chance to talk to some of the people we would be diving with that day. We found out that many of them would be diving all week. | At the time, I had no idea that one of those people would become one of my favorite dive buddies! LAUREN! | Nicole Alonso and her Dad | Gearin' up!
 Oro Verde Wall
 Oro Verde Wreck
This wreck was a Jamaican drug smuggling boat that was scuttled here in 1980 for divers to enjoy. It sits in about 50 ft of water. We saw lots of critters!
We had a cabin with a balcony. It had a fantastic view (and was a great place to stow/dry our dive gear! Thank goodness we weren't in one of the rooms with no windows. It was fun to sit on the balcony and look for whales (but we didn't see any).
Our second stop was in Roatan, Honduras. Since the ships dock on the West End, we went to Anthony's Key for our dives. We love Roatan! I'd really love to go back again!
Phillip and Jamie | Green Outhouse Wall
We had a lot of fun hanging out on the boat. | Of course we did a lot of hanging out in the water, too!
This is where we first me Dan and Zebula. After running in to them again at the airport on the way home, we became fast friends and now they are great dive trip buddies!
 Four Sponges
For our next destination we went to Turneffe Atoll in Belize. The cruise ship docked far from the main land, and we took a boat even farther out to sea! | The dive shop here was located on a private island that had mangroves and manatees. It wasn't at all what we were expecting!
This cute little lizard posed for lots of pictures. Then Nicole Alonso caught him and we took a few more.
We started by heading to a dive site called Pine Ridge. | The boat had a little trouble, but eventually we made it to the site.
Dad and I were happy that we had full wetsuits, because as we neared the dive sight, we saw them. Jellies. Everyhwere. Lauren was brave and scooped one up at the end of our dive. Want to know the rest of that story, well, ask Lauren.
Our second dive in Belize was at Creekozeen Cuts. The animals here were amazing and I got a lot of great pictures of them!
The beaches on this island were beautiful and I wish we'd had more time to spend there. This little crab was looking for a fight. The guys at the shop had caught this Lionfish earlier that week and we were able to take a close look. It was a great, laid back little island. I'd love to go back!
Sunset on the open ocean. Does it get any better than this?
Dad, Peter, Brian, Phillip, Me, Lauren, and the husband and wife who gave me one of the biggest diving scares of my life. At 80 ft, this man realized his regulator was broken, so he swam over to me and took mine. Luckily, everything worked out, but it was a great reminder of why it's important to stay close to your dive buddy!
 Santa Rosa
 Me Lauren Phillip and Lauren
Of course, no dive trip would be complete without me sustaining some sort of injury. These beauties came from rough seas in Cozumel. I had already taken off my fins and was on the ladder when the waves started to get really high. Instead of letting go, I hung on to the ladder which repeatedly knocked me in the shins. OUCH!
We'd often return to our cabin to find some sort of neat towel animal. The first one was an elephant. | Monkey | Scorpian | Walrus
Here's me in one of my favorite places! - underwater!
Of course, I can't go on a trip without Figgy!
I'm still not quite sure how it happened, but somehow I ended up participating in the breakdancing show! I had to dance in front of all of those people! I'm a terrible dancer but it was a lot of fun! I'm sure it was even more fun to watch!
We had a lot of fun catching the shows on the boat and playing BINGO. | This is Peter. He was on the dive boat with us in Cozumel. We found out he was the drummer for the band on the boat and were excited to see him play!
One our day off of diving, we spent the day playing miniature golf... | ...and on the water slides! We had a chance to work on our tan without wetsuit lines!
