To Karen, Thank you for such a memorable trip to Chincoteague! Love, Kathy
October 21, 2011 We stayed at the Hampton Inn in Chincoteague, VA. The hotel offered a wonderful view from our room, a beautiful mural in the lobby and terrific amenities, including fresh baked cookies on arrival.
We had a fantastic seafood dinner at Bill's Restaurant. It was a very popular place, for good reason. Check out the crab imperial - 2 dishes - and the stuffed shrimp were huge!
The charm of a small town!
 Miss Molly's Inn
 The town statue of Misty.
 The Lighthouse
 Our first pony sightings!
We enjoyed the beauty of nature as we hiked the trails of the state park.
 The endangered fox squirrel
And, of course, the reason we came - to see the wild ponies in their natural habitat. This was the view from the lookout.
A small herd of ponies made its way out of the nearby trees, much to our delight.
Next, we explored the ocean and water areas.
 There were many magnificent birds.
Enjoying the beauty of the island.
We stopped at the museum to see the real Misty.
Misty of Chincoteague | Misty's Foal Stormy
Misty Memorabilia - it felt like living in a childhood dream.
Our day ended with a late lunch at a local restaurant and a last stop at the carnival grounds to see the recently rounded-up colts.
"The sight of that pony did something to me I've never quite been able to explain. He was more than tremendous strength and speed and beauty of motion. He set me dreaming."
